Tea; the root of all that is virtuous
@advsoohyuk
Perhaps if Jisoo paused to self-reflect in the midst of her busy crusade of damning caffeine to the depths of hell, (of course, that is, back to where it originated from) she may have realized that she overlooked her frankly, quite obvious addiction to tea.
(But needless to say, Jisoo was as practical and yet as blind to her own vices as they came.)
Back in the café that Jisoo had chosen to deem as ‘hers’; she was of course, seated at her usual seat, primly drinking her chamomile tea, pinky pointed sky high. As she waited for her breakfast to be cooked and brought out to prepare her for a busy day at the police station, Jisoo found herself relaxing for the first time in a long while.
This sense of relaxation, was of course, augmented by the fact she wasn’t in uniform today, which was a rarity in itself, but her police badge was still dutifully stuck on the side of her hip, hidden enough to be invisible from the eyes of a casual observer. Seated amongst the many patrons of the café, and dressed in semi-casual clothing for once, Jisoo felt as if she was young again, innocent from the evils of the world and free of responsibilities once more.
(Though if one were to consider the terrible mess her teenage years were, one may even be doubtful that she had never been quite immune to the evils of the world in the first place.)
Suddenly, the clumsy clattering of a plate dropped upon her table startled Jisoo out of her reverie. As Jisoo’s head snapped up, disconcerted, she was met with the baffling visage of a teary-eyed, newly recruited waitress that she’d never seen before. For a moment, Jisoo was uncharacteristically at a loss as to what to do. Did she perchance, wrong this person in some way?
“Oh my Gosh…” the girl said through her tears. “I-I recognize you, police officer Kim Jisoo from the Incheon police department…. Thank you so much for what you’ve done for my brother!”
Ah.
If Jisoo tilted her head to the right, the lighting of the café enabled her to spot the family resemblance. The waitress indeed seemed to be related to one of the suspects from her most recently closed case. From what she could recall, through much investigation of the evidence acquired and interrogation of all the suspects, the boy was finally cleared of all charges. However, awkwardly, Jisoo couldn’t remember doing anything spectacular to merit this kind of reaction. In fact, she usually preferred to not associate with the suspects so why–
Oh, now that she thought about it… she did recall handing the poor shaking boy a cup of tea; maybe that was why? (Why yes, it was tea that solved all problems, not caffeine)
As Jisoo stood up to awkwardly placate the weeping girl, a napkin raised to studiously dry her tears, she was incredibly aware of the many eyes upon her. After a few mollifying sentences, the girl thanked her profusely again before scurrying back to the kitchen to replace Jisoo’s spilled food.
As she moved over to another table, Jisoo felt unprecedentedly weary as she took a seat. When she looked up again, she met the eyes of a man seated in the table across from her.
Oh dear. I hope he didn’t witness that whole debacle. (But oh, who was she kidding - everyone witnessed it.)
