NOTES: Ian’s got two special presents for Lucy on her twenty-seventh birthday.
Ian had been waiting for this day for..months, actually. The idea had come to him one random afternoon spent cuddling Lucy on the couch, talking about anything and everything with her. He had asked her if she'd ever want to adopt another dog with him and surprisingly, Lucy hadn't immediately jumped all over it. She had nibbled her bottom lip, looked up at him and told Ian she wanted a pet pig. A pet /pig/, of all the animals in the world..Ian figured this had something to do with the country side of her. He had teased her about it but Ian had stored that memory in mind for this day particularly. It was her birthday, and their four month anniversary and..today was just going to be a great day. Smiling to himself, Ian climbed up the stairs with his plate of Funfetti pancakes with strawberries and blueberries surrounding them and knocked lightly on his bedroom door before opening it to see Lucy sitting up in bed. "Happy birthday, baby," he greeted her and placed the plate in front of her. "Breakfast in bed, fitting of a birthday princess." Ian pecked her mouth and then climbed in next to her. "How's it feel to be the big two, seven?"
Lucy slowly and groggily opened her eyes as the beautiful morning sunshine came through the window and hit her face. It was officially her birthday! That realization, plus the one she had when she noticed Ian wasn't laying or sitting up beside her, instantly forced Lucy to spring straight up in the bed. Birthdays were always a pretty big deal for Lucy. Even if she didn't want a party this year, she was still so excited by what the day and the rest of the year had in store for her. It was also by happy coincidence that today was her and Ian's four month anniversary and that obviously added to the excitement. Ready to go find her man and get the day going, Lucy was about ready to swing her legs over the bed when she heard someone coming up the steps and then a soft knock on the door. She smiled brightly at the side of her boyfriend coming inside with what looked like an amazingly delicious breakfast and instantly held her arms out for him. "Thank you." she said softly as she pecked his lips back. "Too bad I don't see a crown" she teased, pecking at his lips once more. She balanced the plate in her lap and beamed up at Ian. "It doesn't really feel that different. Maybe I'll feel it once I get out of bed and head downstairs. You might need to go out and get me that crown and a walker." The brunette picked up a strawberry and popped it in her mouth before picking up another one and holding it up to Ian's lips. "But I feel good knowing you're gonna be the big 3-0 soon. At least I'll always be younger than you." she teased once more, crinkling up her nose as she let out a small laugh.
Ian snapped his fingers playfully. "Damn! I knew I forgot something." He was smiling but inside, Ian kicked himself. He /knew/ he forgot something..He accepted the strawberry she offered him and then stole a blueberry as well. He wasn't going to take her pancakes away from her but he did have some room for fruit. It was funny, that Lucy was twenty-seven because she didn't look it. At all. She looked gorgeous and youthful and Ian suddenly felt the need to examine his face for wrinkles. Pretty soon, Lucy would be shopping for a new model. He stuck his tongue out at her playfully but pressed a kiss to her forehead. "You know they call girls who go after older men gerbils..it suits you," he teased her back and stole another strawberry. "So before I overwhelm you with all the plans I have for you today, is there anything /you/ want to do in particular? It's your day. We can do whatever you want."
Lucy let out a giggle. "You're so cute." Once she was done picking at her fruit, she moved up to the delicious looking funfetti pancakes Ian made her. One of the many reasons she kept him around. "What are you trying to say? That I look like a gerbil? That's not a nice thing to say to the birthday princess." Yeah, she was going to milk this whole birthday princess thing for as long as she possibly could. After taking a couple bites of her pancakes, she shrugged her shoulders at his question and pondered it for a few seconds. "Hmm... I dunno" she replied after swallowing. "I was maybe thinking of going to SoulCycle but now I kind of don't feel like getting out of bed. Can't we just stay in here all day. You know you want too." She whispered that last part seductively and gave him a little wink.
Ian "Gerbils are cute!" Ian chuckled, trying to defend himself but pushed a blueberry into his mouth so he couldn't insert his foot in there anymore. When Lucy wasn't looking, he also stole a bit of her pancakes because his resolve to let her enjoy them solely was weakening. They just looked and smelled so good..he had really outdone himself in today's breakfast. After swallowing, Ian heard Lucy's voice drop and his eyes went over her body which wasn't really wearing much of anything - he had insisted birthday sex was totally okay to start at midnight, and Lucy hadn't argued with him. His cheeks a little pink, Ian grinned back at his girlfriend. "I mean..we can definitely come back here.." Like he was going to give that up. One of the best parts of birthday celebrating. "But no, we're not staying in bed all day." He pushed the covers off of her and unabashedly gazed at the legs crossed in front of him before tearing his gaze away. Focus, Ian, focus. "Get dressed and then come downstairs. I have a surprise for you."
Lucy thought it was cute how even still, there were times where Ian got a little flustered and his cheeks turned a bright shade of pink whenever they talked about sex or whenever he saw her body. She couldn't lie, it made her feel good. He always made her feel good, of course, but knowing he was still so sexually attracted to her and after all this time together he was still in that mind space as he was when they first started dating was a huge confidence boost. And yes, she did sometimes use this to her advantage. She wasn't sorry about it. "Party pooper" she pouted when he got up. Tilting her head to the side, she laughed and placed the plate of pancakes down beside her. "If I have to get dressed this must be serious. You never tell me to get dressed." She stretched out her arms and legs and let out a small yawn. "Can I bring my pancakes?" she asked with a cheeky smile.
Ian narrowed his eyes at Lucy. So he said no to morning sex (for the time being!) and now she was going to torture and taunt him by stretching out and showing him what he was missing. So rude. He shook his head and placed his hand on the doorway before he could exit. "Eat your pancakes," he told her with a pointed finger. "I slaved over those, you know." Really, it had taken him maybe an hour but..still. He gave her a quick grin before disappearing from sight and going down the stairs that lead to his living room. Ian had bought Lucy's pig a few days ago and the owner had been kind enough to keep him on his farm until the day of her birthday. He should be pulling up right about..now. A truck came into view and Ian glanced upstairs, content to hear Lucy still moving around her room, and he walked out to greet the guy. "Hey, thank you so much," he told him warmly and shook his hand. The two men exchanged pleasantries and then a pig was being handed over to Ian. A red bow was wrapped comfortably around his neck and..the biggest surprise in Ian's eyes..a house key was attached to a collar around his neck as well. He grinned. Four months being together and Ian thought it was about damn time they lived together. It felt like the right next step for them.
Lucy couldn't help but role her eyes at his slaying over the pancakes comment. Well now she was just going to take forever to eat them just to spite him... or not, since they were really delicious. She had no self control. The brunette let out another giggle and lifted up her hands to shoo the man away. "Alright, alright. I'll be down in a sec." Smiling over at him until he left the room and was out of view, Lucy then scoffed down the rest of her pancakes before getting dressed. All Ian told her to do was put clothes on. He didn't tell her to dress up all fancy or dressy or anything, so Lucy decided to just throw on a sweatshirt and a pair of yoga pants and call it a day. She was the birthday princess, so what she said went for the day. As she took her empty plate and walked out of the room and towards the stairs, she quickly stopped dead in her tracks. She was quickly overcome with a weird sort of feeling that she couldn't quite put her finger on. When Ian told her to get dressed she knew he must have had a surprise for her, but now she was starting to realize that this might have been bigger than she expected. For months she had been telling him how she desperately wanted a pet pig at some point in her future. Ever since she came across Instagrams of those who owned one, the brunette was dead set on getting herself a pig one day. Was this it? It had to be. She felt it. It was coming. She quickly hurried down the stairs with a hand covering her mouth. She hadn't even seen the pig, or if there even was one, yet, but she was already emotional. "No way no way no fucking way." she chanted to herself when she reached the bottom of the stairs and saw Ian holding the cutest little piglet in his arms. Then came the tears.
Ian heard noise coming from the top of the stairs and turned around to face Lucy with a smile which quickly was replaced with a look of alarm. Was she..was she /crying/? "Babe?" He asked in confusion and glanced down at the pig. He was just chilling in Ian's arms, the calmest little babe there was and Ian felt a momentary pang of regret if he had to give him back. What if Lucy had changed her mind? What if she was suddenly against pigs? What else was he supposed to do?! He had figured the pig, the house key, and treating her to dinner would be a good present package but he might just have to start from scratch. "I thought you.." He trailed off, squinting at her as she came down the stairs and closer to him. He couldn't tell if those were happy tears or sad tears and now he was panicking. "Um. Happy birthday?" He asked. "Do you..do you want to hold him? Is this good crying? Am I in trouble? Please say something."
Lucy had to put the plate down on the ground or else she was going to drop it. It didn't happen often, but there were times where if Lucy was too happy or too excited about something, she just started crying and hyperventilating because it was all her body could manage to do in that moment. It was like her brain was too stimulated and just shut down temporarily and the autopilot control was just to cry. Feeling even more embarrassed over her sobbing now that he was speaking, she quickly covered her eyes and the rest of her face to hide away from him for a second. "I just... I knew it was a pig" she muttered in between tears and sniffles and more tears. "I don't know how but I knew." Wiping her eyes with the sleeves of her sweatshirt, she managed to look back up at Ian and the adorable pig in his arms and instantly started crying more. "He's just so cute" she sobbed. It was love at first sight for Lucy and the nameless little piglet. She took a couple steps over and slowly held out a hand to pet him. For now that was going to have to do because she was physically unable to hold him do to her excited shaking. Once she calmed down, only slightly albeit, she held out both arms and let Ian place the small creature in them. She held the pig snuggly against her chest and smiled from ear to ear. If she thought this present and day couldn't get any better, she was in for a treat when she finally realized there was something attached to the pig's bright red bow around his neck.
Ian had to grin. God, his girlfriend was the cutest person on the planet. "Baby," he laughed and pulled her closer to him. He didn't want to put the pig in her arms until she was steady enough to hold him because he didn't want the animal frightened. Lucy's eyes were wide and she looked like a little girl as she gingerly petted his pink coat, the pig snorting in response. He seemed to like Lucy. Everybody liked Lucy, so Ian wasn't surprised. He waited patiently until Lucy was ready and then handed him over. Lucy looked like she was a kid at a candy store and Ian had to take a picture. He snapped it, saved it and then watched as Lucy finally realized there was a key. Showtime. He suddenly felt nervous and Ian cleared his throat when Lucy looked at him. "It's been..four amazing months with you, Goose, and I don't regret a single minute of them. They've been special to me. Falling in love with you all over again has been the best adventure and journey I could take with you and I know we have so much more to get through..and to do..and I want you by my side. Every night, every morning. I want you to move in with me..and this yet to be named pig. I want it all with you, baby. Move in with me?"
Lucy honestly couldn't think of a greater, happier moment in her life at the moment than this one right now. Sure, she knew she had some for sure and in the grand scheme of things getting a pet pig probably shouldn't rank so high, but for right now in Lucy's book, it so did. She was going to treat this new animal like a child, just like she did with Jack. Rocking him slightly back and forth in her arms to sooth him as he snorted and tried to sniff her, Lucy was in a complete state of bliss that she honestly could be oblivious to anything happening around her. Someone could invade the home or take Ian hostage and she wouldn't notice because she was too focused on the pig. However, as she rocked him, her hand just happened to find the small key attached to it's bow. She knew she was a little out of it, but she could have sworn Ian hadn't said anything about a key. Was it supposed to be to the pig's crate or playpen? Looking up at him with a raised eyebrow but still a dopey smile plastered to her face, she held the key up slightly and cleared her throat. "What's this for?" Now, on any other day with no pigs involved, Lucy would have probably been able to put two and two together in no time at all, but she was going to need a little help right now. When he asked her to move in, the brunette blinked a couple times and her mouth dropped open slightly ajar. She wasn't sure she heard him right. Was he really asking her, and their new pig child, to move in? "Wait, really? You want me to move in? Are you serious?" She asked all three questions way too quickly and excitedly but she couldn't help it. "Yes, of course! Of course I want to move in, baby." Having to be mindful of the animal in her arms, Lucy didn't jump or scream or make any other sudden movements or sounds in order not to frighten him. Instead she just stood up tall and kissed his lips. "Are you sure? I mean, you think you can handle /this/ 24/7?" she asked, emphasizing the word "this" due to her current state.
Ian felt his nerves growing bigger the longer it took for Lucy to actually answer him and he beamed as she finally did. "Good!" He answered back cheerfully and moved in to kiss her but there was a..pig in the way. A pig, Ian was slowly realizing, who was going to take ninety nine point nine percent of Lucy's attention from now on. Ian would probably be lucky if he was remembered to be given a kiss in the mornings. He bit his lip and then grinned as she stood on her tip toes to kiss him. Ian loved how tiny Lucy was compared to him. He was no giraffe or anything but he still felt like he could protect her and be her hero with his size. He pet the pig's head as well and then nodded. "Of course. I want you every single minute of the day and nothing's going to make me feel better than to come home to you every single night." It just felt right, having Lucy live with him. She was already constantly there anyways and now they could really start to move forward. "We can move everything in this weekend," he smiled at her. "And we're gonna need a name for our new pig child." Lucy probably wasn't going to let him go at all today.
Lucy grinned up at Ian as he told her that he wanted her every single minute of every day and that nothing was going to make him feel better than coming home to her, because Lucy felt the exact same way. They had agreed from the start they were going to let their relationship move at it's own pace and let things progress naturally. A couple months ago, Lucy wasn't ready to move in with him and if you asked her, she probably would have said she wouldn't have been ready now. But that was then and this was now. Things were going so well for the couple. They were so in love and everything was working just the way it was supposed to, so this just seemed like the obvious next step in their relationship. "I love you so much, you know that? And all I want is you and to be with you... and our new child." If he thought she wasn't going to include the pig, he didn't know her at all. She looked down at the quiet animal in her arms and nodded. Calling him pig or piglet wasn't going to fly for much longer. "Yeah, you're right. The only thing coming to mind is Wilbur. My brain is officially fried from all the surprises today." Smiling, she brought the pig a little closer to her face and kissed his head gently.
Ian "I love you too," Ian smiled tenderly back down at Lucy. He was happy she wanted to. He knew the both of them were trying so hard to do things right this time around but for once, they were on the same page about everything and it was a great feeling to be so connected and equal with her. It just made Ian love Lucy that much more and he didn't even know that was possible. He rolled his eyes playfully as she deemed /Wilbur/ their new child, but wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Wilbur it is. He looks like one." Ian had a feeling he wasn't going to get any attention tonight..but that was okay. Ian was just happy Lucy loved her present. Gently taking the bow and key off Wilbur's neck, Ian placed it on the side counter. "I got him a little bed too, and a cage so he won't run around and make a mess. You think the dogs are going to like him?"
Lucy held the pig up Lion King style so she could get a good look at him. She just hoped when she did she wouldn't burst into tears again. She wasn't going to make any promises. "You're right... he kinda does." She wrapped what was looking like Wilbur back in her arms and cuddled him snugly against her chest. "We can call him Willie for short." Leave it to Lucy to give her pet a nickname. She frowned slightly when Ian mentioned he got a bed, because honestly she was planning on having him sleep in the bed with them tonight. Just this once since he was new and all... maybe. But she wasn't going to let it show because she knew Ian wasn't going to go for having a pig sleep in their bed. "We can potty train him too. I saw it online" she stated as a matter of factly. The girl had done her research. "Yeah, I think so. They might have to take some time and get used to him, but I think it'll be okay. The real question is will Wilbur like them."
Ian knew it. He could sense it. Lucy wasn't going to let Willie out of her sight. She was in love - possibly with the pig more than him, and Ian would just have to suck it up and accept it. She hadn't let go of him yet and Ian was almost afraid to ask to hold the pig..He didn't think Lucy would let him go. He saw her disappointed frown and immediately gave Lucy a stern look, knowing what she was thinking. "No../no/, Goose. He's not in the bed with us. No way. We're having birthday sex and I'm not having Willie rest at the foot of the bed and watch us. That's weird. No." Yeah, Ian was probably going to be pushed aside for the pig. He knew it was coming. "Of course you did," he chuckled and picked up the plate of pancakes on the floor to start leading them towards the kitchen. "I think so. It's impossible to not like Jack and Bailey and Mochi. You think Willie's hungry? Maybe he wants some bacon." At this, Wilbur let out a comical snort and Ian laughed.
