Blackout | Ruby & Devyn

The storm had Ruby on edge, weapon clenched tightly in her hand. Heavy rain kept visibility at a low for the women. Of course this had to be the night they were outside of the wall. Though Ruby would never complain or turn back to the town without completing her job, and the blonde guessed Devyn had a very similar mindset. If the walls were damaged by the storm and the two patrol officers didn’t do their jobs the town could have a repeat of its last disaster. That thought alone kept Ruby walking despite the heavy rain and roaring wind.
When the lights went out, throwing the world around them into complete darkness, the blonde froze. Blinking once, twice, three times as if the lack of light was a result of her eyes and not the failed generators. “Damnit.” The curse was whispered under her breath out of fear that speaking at a normal volume would draw in walkers. Adrenaline kicked in immediately, Ruby’s heart racing. “Please tell me you have a flashlight.”
