Shou was just finishing up his night shift at Chapter One. It was going like any other night; he locked the doors, counted the register, made sure everything was nice and clean, set the alarm, and left the building. It was a routine now. It took him awhile to get things figured out, especially with his disability but he soon learned the routine. Sure, he was a bit slower than his co-workers but they didn’t seem to mind.
He finished locking up and he left the building and began to head home for the night. Home was at the university where he resided in the dorms. The moment he began to walk home he noticed everything was oddly quiet. Strangely still. Shou knew right away that something was off. He wasn’t sure what was going on but, something just wasn’t right.
He was creeping along the sidewalk (most people would think it was strange) as he was trying to listen for anything different. But Shou had a feeling that he shouldn’t walk his normal route home. Instead he was walking through the side streets and back alleys. And that’s when it hit him.
Someone, somewhere was hurt. Someone was in danger. He began sprinting to the place his instincts were telling him to go. It wasn’t long afterwards that he heard a gunshot and he stopped dead in his tracks. Was he too late? He closed his eyes and focused hard on his sense of smell. He could definitely smell blood but it wasn’t enough to be fatal. That’s when he knew he had a chance. Again, he sprinted towards the person and came to a seemingly abandoned building. That’s where he caught the individual’s scent among the blood. When he found her his eyes widened and he ran to her side. “Oh my god did you just get shot?” he gasped. He quickly took off his jacket and ripped of a piece of fabric from it, getting ready to put pressure on her wound. “What just happened?”
