lukas had meticulously crafted his expression into a portrait of earnest appeal, a blend of pleading and persuasive he had wielded with great success in the past, particularly when trying to convince his brother of something he may not be especially keen on doing. like making an appearance at the house warming party he was organizing, "I assure you, it won't be an especially substantial crowd," lukas continued to make his case.
he developed a routine of attending any of the lectures his younger brother taught whenever his schedule permitted, though he did so with a certain lack of subtlety. he always endeavored to slip into the back undetected, but who could hardly ignore a man over six feet beaming from the back of the class like he was listening to the most fascinating thing ever uttered. which, in truth, was precisely what lukas thought.
"…just a handful of bella's friends, a few familiar faces from the faculty, ah, and I extended an invitation to some of my students, along with a couple of amiable townsfolk I've come to befriend," by no means was the growing roster of attendees lukas was listing anything but a large crowd. "…and all of our neighbors. you see, just a small get together, a simple affair among friends."
