“Merrill----- it’s LOVELY to see you,” Hawke announced with an almost honest smile once he was sitting in her living room. It hadn’t changed much since the last time he had been here, still had the same unfinished vibe to it, as if she’d only just moved in. Merrill was a difficult person to deal with and every time she asked him to come by her house Hawke found it more of a challenge. She was a sweet girl, someone he truly WANTED to trust - but she was also the kind of person who believed blood magic could be used without consequences and demons were just misunderstood spirits. Or so her actions spoke.
“I’m sorry I haven’t paid you any visits in a while,” Hawke said with honest regret, unable to bury the feeling of guilt about his lack of care. No matter her actions, he had once been the one to take Merrill away from her people and instead of helping her settle in properly he had all but dumped her in the alienage to fend for herself. Since then their paths had crossed a few times and Hawke had found himself unable to deny her his help, but he couldn’t with good conscience pretend that he’d been a good friend to her.
“Are you alright? Discovered any ancient elven artifacts lately?”
