Fuck welp you mentioned it! Ghost's mannerisms?

Okay, sorry this took me forever to get to, Si-

(Also I’m sorry if this isn’t super coherent, it’s a little late but I wanted to get this answered while I had the energy to do it)

Ghost’s *mannerisms..* oh, boyo..

So..! Ghost has a very showy way of acting. It’s almost like he’s putting on an act half the time; whenever I heard him introduce himself, I imagine a younger, withdrawn guy standing up straight and trying to make himself look more confident to match what he’s saying.

He gestures with his hands a lot, seems like mostly just pointing or gesturing towards things when he’s speaking. He doesn’t move around as much as Spencer would, but he’s pretty close.

(And yes I know I’m using Spencer as a reference a lot; they’re honestly very similar characters in their mannerisms and speech patterns so it’s sort of a matter of comparison.)

Ghost’s mannerisms just lend to his grandiose air; he seems like he would try and make himself seem bigger or stronger than he really is. He doesn’t necessarily seem fidgety or jumpy, but he definitely moves around a lot. He seems like he would gesture for emphasis, or to “illustrate” something he’s saying.

To take a reference from another fandom.. he reminds me of Roman Sanders. They both share the same grand, dramatic mannerisms - half the things I’ve seen Roman do, I could imagine Ghost doing. He’s dramatic and grand and it only backs up how he either obviously thinks highly of himself or *pretends* that he does to try and make sure other people think it. (But it’s obvious sometimes that it’s really only an act.)

Everyone seems to see our Toaster differently, how do you perceive him?

Toaster!!

Okay, so, the funny thing is? That not being able to *see* Cierra’s body language when she plays him (if she has any different at all) actually makes it pretty hard to gauge what he would be like - body language plays a huge hand in how you come off.

HOWEVER, the really cool thing is, that tone of voice can actually infer a body language for a character if theirs isn’t actually able to be seen.

So, going off Toast’s tone (and manner of speaking):

He seems pretty goddamn quiet! He comes off as pretty shy and timid, especially juxtaposed with Ghost.

Toast seems very introverted and nervous; the way he stutters and the manner he speaks in general tend to make him seem like he keeps to himself - in terms of some things, he seems like he mostly speaks when spoken to, or when it’s really necessary. (Though he does come off as sort of talkative with Ghost sometimes)

His tone makes him sound like he tends to fidget a lot, but also that he keeps in his own little bubble; so at that, he probably fidgets in a much different way than Spencer — Spencer comes off as waving his hands around and gesturing (the same with Ghost, actually), but Toast seems more like he would do things like pull at his clothes or wring his hands.

Also: It’s pretty goddamn safe to assume Toast has depression. I mean, even if it’s never been outright said (I can’t remember but I really don’t think so), just.. look at him. And what’s happened to him. Not to mention, I don’t think we know an exact timeline, or how recent things have been — especially considering that, for some GOD FORSAKEN REASON, time seems to be fucked to all hell wherever they are.

AND, at that: we do Not know what all has happened to Toast, but we sure know it’s probably a lot! Safe to assume that he more than likely has depression, and probably anxiety at that.

TL;DR: Toast comes off as being very, very fidgety and nervous; he probably doesn’t really like being touched, and he’s especially timid compared to Ghost (that is, Toast doesn’t seem very confident at all). He’s also probably got depression and/or anxiety, but that’s an assumption based on what we know about him and minor behaviors.

Oh, gosh, his *voice?*

(This is gonna be fun I like talking about voices-)

Okay so!! Voices really can tell you a lot about a person’s personality. Which is honestly, really cool! If you listen close enough, you can pick up a lot.

The first thing I’ve noticed about Ghost’s voice is how loud he is; how big and grandiose he makes himself sound! Just his introduction alone shows he very obviously thinks highly of himself - or, at least, acts that way. He says his name in a way that suggests it should be obvious; like you must be living under a rock to not know who he is.

(Is that accurate in their universe? Maybe!)

See, the definitions of “grandiose” are “impressive or imposing, especially pretentiously so”, or “excessively grand and ambitious”.

(*I also want to add that grandiosity is a symptom of several disorders; characterized by, quote, “an unrealistic sense of superiority, a sustained view of oneself as better than others that causes one to view others with disdain or as inferior, as well as to a sense of uniqueness: the belief that few others have anything in common with oneself and that one can only be understood by a few or very special people”. Something else that Ghost does seem to have.)

Ghost tries to present himself as being imposing and, quite frankly, better than he might actually be. He sounds like he tries to get people to like him; maybe not for malicious purposes, though. I personally think it’s just because he thinks lowly of himself and, to put it bluntly, craves validation. If he acts big and grand, people will treat him like it.

Though he’s also obviously incredibly sarcastic and sorta rude.

Honestly? His voice reminds me of the way Spencer talks! Wildly different tones - Spencer sounds more obviously arrogant and bitter, whereas Ghost just sounds like he’s trying to hide feelings of inferiority - but that same self-important, irritable manner - they both (likely) think they’re better than you and they’re not afraid to act it.

Ghost’s mannerisms reflect the grandiose portrayal of himself, too, for the record..!

Yeah, pretty much! Jenny left a while before the issue with Johnny and stopped talking to most of her family, so she doesn’t really know anything about what’s happened - same with Gavin, besides knowing he’s doing some shit.

7 - All of PIE.

(Any family scandals? Does your character know about them?)

Ghost’s family has had several scandals, but the only one Ghost knows of is about his father. Or.. fathers, plural. The main reason he names so many different people as his dad (even though he only has one birth father) is because his mom had a reputation for cycling through boyfriends a lot; and because of everything else that happened in his childhood, he just can’t remember which one was actually his dad.

Toast was the center of one. When he was a teenager, he had lost several people in a row and ended up turning to drugs and alcohol and becoming a.. huge delinquent; so it was pretty public when the son of such a high-profile family - related to the Queen - was found out to be into things like that.

Spooker’s never really heard any about his, and everyone’s pretty sure he doesn’t have them.

Same with Colon! There’s not really any to speak of.

Ghost? Depends on the person, depends on the secret. He probably would, but it’d take him forever to get there.

Usually, Ghost or Colon; Spooker somewhat admires Ghost, even if he’s a dick sometimes - and Colon’s his boyfriend, so it’s almost always a first instinct to want to ask him for help!

Toast is absolutely fucking terrible at making decisions. It’s not to the level of an actually, life-hindering problem, but he’s fucking horrible at it; if it’s smaller things (like, say, what he wants more out of two things), he’ll stress over whatever he picked because “what if I don’t like it as much as id like the other one?”

If it’s bigger stuff, he’ll get legitimately upset and anxious about the idea that he might’ve made a wrong or the bad choice.
