"In the beginning it was tough to get here four times a week at eight-thirty in the morning. Not surprising, since I’d been in the habit of staying up until the early hours of the morning and then sleeping till noon every day. Not using an alarm clock to get up either. But I managed. Once I got through the tunnel of epic tiredness I felt every time the alarm went off, getting up and going outside would eventually make me fully awake. I was also so out of shape that the physical work was a shock to my body. But after a few days I was able to shake off the lethargy and became more energetic. Best of all was being paid money in exchange for my labour. It felt strange, after such a long time. I knew what I would do with my first pay cheque."
