Persona 5 Headcannon Cont: Akechi survived, but retired from detective work. He now works as a librarian, and is the next Persona Teams Moon Confidant. The rest of the PT already know he's alright, and due to Joker's Kitty Eye's, he's been seeing a therapist.
Let me suggest this, cuz I love this: Maruki doesn't do counseling anymore but because he got to peek into both Akechi and Joker's cognitions he decides to help them out to make up for the whole warping reality thing. And to apologize for basically using Akechi as a hostage.
It's very awkward at first but he slips back into counseling relatively quickly and because he has knowledge of the Metaverse Akechi can even kinda tell him things without feeling like he's exposing too much. Maruki reports on his state of mind to Joker regularly, with Akechi's knowledge cuz Joker can see through him anyway.
Akechi for his part shows up at Leblanc sometimes, where Joker hangs out more often than not, but mostly just does his own thing. The other Phantom Thieves never know where he is at the moment but they know Joker knows.
He's still grumpy and enjoys fighting a bit too much but he's mostly just beating up punching bags now or pretending to hate Joker while sitting a little too close for that to be true
No one really knows what he is doing for a living but Joker promises he's no danger to anyone and he's got some pretty interesting stuff to teach the new persona generation. Getting a hold of him is a pain tho.
