This guitar belonged to Sylvain Sylvain, my dearly departed musical partner in the New York Dolls - and now, it belongs to me. I was fortunate to have been approached by the man who owned it, Stephen Hirsch whose family owned the New York Doll Hospital (from which Syl took the name for the band.) Stephen thought that I should have this guitar to carry on the musical legacy of Sylvain, The Dolls & to make new music of my own with - which is exactly what I”m doing in the studio this week. It’s an early ‘70s Gibson Les Paul with P-90 pickups which was rare for that year. So I bought it from him and the money was given to Sylvain’s widow, Wanda.
