As a B-Class hero, Blizzard of Hell did not have to do patrols, but every once in a while she needed an outlet to exercise her skills. She wasn’t called for every job, and sometimes they were few and far between.
She needed an outlet.
After wandering around for 45 minutes, she saw something good. Excellent, even.
A giant... cactus... had its sights on a middle school. After sending a quick message to her subordinates, she got to work, directing a a psychokinetic attack at the being-- blowing a hole through it, but not doing enough damage to slow it down.
The Halloween party was over and Avery knew she had had way too much to drink. She hadn’t felt this way since before Adam died. While it felt good, she also felt as if she had betrayed herself and everything she had stood for these past 8 years. Spending most of her night with Nate, she had lost him at one point. Assuming he got distracted with the other events that had taken place that night. But, at this point, she knew she needed someone to take her home and she didn’t want her brothers knowing the state she was in. She stumbled around for awhile before finding him. “Nate.” She said nearly breathless. “Can-Can you take me home?” Her arms went around his neck for support. “Please.”
Beck smiled when Jade leaned her head on his shoulder, still a little taken aback sometimes that this girl was actually into him. More than into him- she loved him, and it kind of blew his mind. “I love you,” he told her quietly. It might have seemed a little out of the blue, but he couldn’t help himself from saying it when he was standing here with his arm around her and thinking about just how happy she made him.
Jade thought his sudden declaration of love a little random, but she still appreciated it; she swore she could feel herself melt a little anytime he said that. It was beyond her comprehension sometimes, but she never took it for granted. "I love you, too."
Beck struggled to sit still as they waited for some guy called Harry finished up with his last customer. He wasn’t so sure that the name Harry really suited the gigantic guy, so covered in tattoos that you could hardly see any skin at all, and thought that something a little more menacing would have been a better fit. The man had seemed nice enough, though, and had even given Beck a nod that might have been approval when he showed him the design he had picked out. Not even the sound of some other guy whimpering from a back room was enough to deter Beck’s excitement. It was his birthday, and he was so close to actually getting a tattoo. He’d toyed with the idea plenty of times and there was something immensely satisfying about being about to go through with it, no matter how concerned he was about the pain.
It wasn’t long before Beck’s name was being called out in a heavily accented voice, signalling that they were ready for him. He shot up, glad for the chance to be moving around, but also suddenly struck with the reality of what he was about to do. There was no going back; once the tattoo was done, it would be permanent, and even though Beck didn’t doubt that he wanted it, he still wavered a little. “This isn’t too ridiculous of an idea, is it?” He asked Jade, seeking reassurance before he took another step.
"You're talking to the person who has a tattoo of a fucking star. Like that's not the most basic thing anyone could possibly have gotten." Seeing the look on his face, though, she softened and took his hand. "No, it's not ridiculous. I really like it and I can tell it means a lot to you. You should do it."
“You’re right, okay.” He nodded, more to himself than to her. He knew she was right, but for some reason, he had needed to hear it said aloud before he could actually go through with this. Beck squeezed her hand gently before making his way over to where Harry sat waiting patiently. “You’re still going to hold my hand though, right?” He murmured, trying to keep his voice low enough to not be overheard. He felt a little bit childish, and he was already holding her hand right now, but the words slipped out anyway.
"Of course I am," Jade whispered back. "I know how nerve-wracking this is; I'm not about to leave you alone. Besides, I want to watch."
“Thank you.” He brushed his lips against her cheek lightly before stepping away so that he could pull off his shirt and clamber into the chair. At least if he ever regretted this, the tattoo wouldn’t be visible when he had a shirt on - a point he had definitely emphasised when he had informed his parents as to what he was planning to do on his birthday. His mom had been almost unnervingly enthusiastic, and offered to pay for it, to which he had refused, but his dad had definitely been less than thrilled. He had seemed to think that it would look unprofessional to prospective employers, and whilst Beck appreciated the concern, he really didn’t think it was that huge of a deal. Besides, it wasn’t like Beck was planning on working for a company that might care about that sort of thing, and any directors that had an issue could easily ask for it to be covered with makeup.
“Ready?” Harry asked in his rough voice, evidently sticking to the one word sentences he had been using before.
“Yeah,” Beck answered, not sure how truthful that was, but doubting he would ever feel any more ready than he was right now. He reached for Jade’s hand, eyes widening slightly as Harry moved closer with what looked a hell of a lot like an instrument of torture.
"Relax," Jade murmured, squeezing his hand. "It's really not that bad, I promise." She watched as Harry loaded a new needle into his tattoo gun and swiped some Vaseline onto Beck's ribcage, which was already prepped with a stencil. "Just look at me, okay? Talk to me, and I'll distract you, and it'll be over before you know it."
Beck turned his head so that he was looking at her and not what was essentially a giant needle. He tried not to flinch when it first made contact with his skin, having been instructed not to move, but his grip on Jade’s hand did tighten. “Kay. Talk to me about something.” His teeth were gritted as he spoke and his mind was spinning, trying to think of anything but the pain as the needle hit right where one of his ribs was closest to the skin.
Jade leaned down so her lips were level with Beck's ear, speaking softly so Harry wouldn't hear her. "You're already fine as hell, but you're going to look even hotter when this is done, and when we get home, you can bet your sweet ass I'm making out with you." She sat back up, beaming sweetly at him as if she hadn't said anything at all. "So, have you thought about what classes you wanna take next year?"
Beck sputtered, earning him a sharp glance from Harry. “Sorry,” he told the man, averting his gaze right afterwards so that he didn’t feel the need to try and explain himself. He shot Jade a look, but didn’t respond to her comment, knowing that he was unable to do so without Harry overhearing, and he definitely didn’t want that. “Anything that isn’t History is perfectly fine with me. I’ve been contemplating a songwriting one, but I don’t know. Have you?”
Jade bit back a laugh at his reaction. Maybe her methods were a little unorthodox, but she had managed to distract him, hadn't she? "Maybe that one. I want to do some more music ones, you know? Polish up my voice a little bit. I'm thinking maybe vocal pedagogy, but I'm not sure. I just want to sing more."
Beck nodded. “You should sing more, your voice is amazing.”
"Stooop." Jade ducked her head so he wouldn't see her face turning red.
“It is, though! You know I love the sound of your voice, and your singing is one of the most amazing things that I’ve ever heard.”
"You flatter me, babe. There's always room for improvement. Hence the classes." She shrugged. "I want to take something I'm actually interested in to make up for the fact that I have to suffer through two more semesters of English."
“Yeah, it’ll be good to have a bit more choice. Sikowitz was saying that they might run a few film-based acting courses, maybe even get some real professionals in to teach them. I’d definitely be up for that.” He knew that English was a bit of a sore spot for her so he didn’t even try to make light of it; there was nothing he could do about it being compulsory other than be annoyed on her behalf. Beck was about to say something else when Harry moved the tattoo gun over an especially sensitive spot and he let out an involuntary hiss of pain.
“Done.” The man said when Beck glanced at him questioningly, the tattoo gun being moved away before that word really registered. He could definitely feel where the tattoo was, but it really hadn’t hurt as much as he had worried it would-- though he did find himself glancing away again as the guy cleaned and carefully taped a bandage over the entire area. Instead of giving any further instructions or anything, the man of few words simply shoved a pamphlet into Beck’s hands and waved his arm in a clear dismissal. “Thanks, man,” Beck told him before gently pulling his shirt back on.
“That actually wasn’t that bad,” he admitted to Jade as they moved out of the way for the next customer.
"I told you it wouldn't be. So are you happy?"
“Yeah, well. You were right. I am, I think it turned out really cool, and I’m not regretting it or anything.”
"Good. I'm glad." She took his pamphlet from him and tucked it into her purse, then took his hand again to walk out of the shop. "So, what do you want to do now? It's your birthday; we can do whatever you want."
“Well, I believe that someone made some promises back there.” He teased, jerking his head back in the direction of the tattoo place.
"That's right, I did." Jade just smiled at him. "Well, let's get back to your place, then, and I can start making good on them."
“Sounds like a plan. We should stop for coffee on the way back, though, they do really good coffee at that little hippie van thing a few blocks from here. It takes them a while, and I don’t usually have time to wait, but we’re not really in a rush to get anywhere now.”
Jade nodded. "Okay, yeah, that sounds good. Lead the way."
Beck headed to the coffee place he’d been talking about. They would have to double back for the car, but he figured that was better than trying to get parking closer. Though it was nowhere near as busy today as it was during the week, there was still quite a substantial crowd of people standing around the van waiting for coffee when they arrived. He dropped Jade’s hand so that he could move through the people to get to the makeshift front counter and order their coffee. The young guy that took the order murmured something about a wait, but Beck wasn’t really paying all that much attention, already moving back to Jade before the guy had finished speaking. He wrapped an arm around Jade’s waist, pulling her into his side - though not the side that his new tattoo was on.
Jade craned her neck to look at all the people around them. She'd never been here before, but clearly it was pretty popular- she and Beck were in the midst of a fairly large crowd, surrounding this one psychedelic-looking van. She turned her body closer to Beck when he pulled her close, not wanting to risk getting separated from him in such a large number of people. She sighed contentedly, leaning her head on his shoulder. She had kind of been hoping to just go straight back to the RV after his tattoo was done, but this was nice, too. Besides, she'd never been one to say no to coffee.
He wasn’t sure what had come over him, really, but he decided to just do with it. Whether it was the adrenaline from getting his tattoo, or just the excitement of his birthday in general, or something else entirely, he didn’t know, but he definitely felt a little off kilter. Not necessarily in a bad way, either, just different. Maybe less reserved or something. Without thinking about the fact that they were in a crowd of people, or anything really, he raised a hand to gently turn Jade’s face upwards so that he could press his lips to hers. He didn’t push his luck by drawing it out too much, but it was still a much bolder move than he would usually pull, him usually kissing her forehead or cheek at a moment like this rather than pulling her in for a real kiss.
She was a little taken aback by the fact that this was a real kiss instead of a chaste peck on the cheek like he usually gave her when they were in public, but she quickly gave into it. She could tell he was hesitant and trying to make it short, but she reached a hand up to the back of his neck so she could hold him close a little longer, deepening the kiss. Without really stopping to think about it, she tugged his lower lip in between her teeth, almost biting down but not quite, settling instead for a nip. Maybe it was a more intense kiss than they usually shared in public, but she couldn't care less right now.
Beck accidentally let out a quiet groan when he felt her teeth on his lip, praying to God that that hadn’t been loud enough for anyone else to hear. He tightened the arm he had around her waist, pulling her in closer. He’d been planning on keeping the kiss short, but that didn’t seem to be possible when Jade’s hand was at the back of his neck, tugging him down and keeping him locked in place.
Jade chuckled darkly, sinking her teeth into his lip ever deeper.
“Jade,” Beck tried to make the word come out chastising, but the effect was probably more pleading than anything.
Jade abruptly pulled back, smoothing her hair and giving him an innocent smile. "What?"
“You know exactly what,” he muttered, interrupted from continuing when his name was called. He picked up the drinks, trying hard to ignore the several stares he was getting as he did so, handing Jade hers when he returned. Beck was still slightly embarrassed by his response to her biting him, but still took her hand to drag her along back to the car.
She let him lead her back to the car, sipping her coffee nonchalantly as they went. When they finally reached it, she buckled herself into the passenger seat, eyeing Beck curiously as he drove. "You're not mad or anything, are you?"
“Mad? No, I’m not mad.” He let out a small laugh, offering her his hand so that she could hold onto it like she usually did when he was driving.
"You're sure." Jade accepted his hand, but didn't lace their fingers together. "I didn't mean to embarrass you or anything, I just-- remembered that you like the teeth thing..."
“Really, I embarrassed myself more than anything. I do like the teeth thing...enough to vocalise that in public, apparently.”
Jade laughed. "Well, I'm glad I can be of service."
“I bet you are.” He had to stop himself from rolling his eyes at how happy she sounded with herself. Beck parked a little crookedly in the driveway, but he couldn’t be bothered to fix it, figuring that even his dad would give him a pass on that on today of all days. Neither of his parents were home and wouldn’t be until much later, which suited Beck fine. As much as he loved his parents, he was kind of glad to be able to spend the whole day with Jade, and not have to feel bad about blowing them off or something. He paused at the steps up to his RV, swinging the door open and gesturing for Jade to go in before him.
Jade walked into the RV, tossing her purse in a corner before settling herself on the couch. She looked up at Beck, patting the empty spot beside her. "Come here."
Beck slid the lock closed on the door before following her request and sitting close beside her on the couch. He did so carefully, just in case the tattoo hurt as he did, but it didn’t, and he could hardly even feel it anymore at all.
"Can I have a kiss?" Jade asked.
“What’s the magic word?”
Jade sighed. "You change it every time, so I honestly have no idea."
“Well, I can’t just tell you. You’ll have to guess.” He was looking at his feet so that he could hide the grin on his face.
"Please. Scissors. Lotion. Kiss me now or I'm leaving."
Beck made a face, not really appreciating her words, but not wanting to push the point right now. “No, don’t leave.” He made his voice sound a lot more upset than he really was, knowing that she wasn’t entirely serious. “Come here, love.” He demanded, pulling her into his lap before waiting for a response. With one arm wrapping tightly around her waist, he used his other hand to pull her face down to meet his in a slightly rough kiss.
Jade let out a little squeak of surprise when he suddenly grabbed her and yanked her into his lap- she hadn't been expecting that, but it wasn't unwelcome; she loved sitting in his lap and feeling his arm around her waist was probably one of her favorite things in the world. She kissed him back with just as much roughness and intensity as he was showing her, raking a hand through his hair and tucking his lip back between her teeth.
Beck let out a small noise of content as her teeth connected with his lip again, just glad that this time there wasn’t a whole crowd of people to hear him vocalise his love of her doing that. The intensity of the kiss would usually be enough to make him uncomfortable, but he sure as hell didn’t feel that way now, and he had no intention of trying to soften the kiss. Rather, he deepened the kiss a little more and tugged her in a little closer to him.
Jade smirked as he let out another little groan, pleased with the effect she seemed to be having on him. She shifted her weight in his lap, breaking the kiss in favor of leaving several smaller ones across his jawline and down the side of his neck, finally scraping her teeth just above his collarbone and trailing the tip of her tongue over the exposed skin.
Beck let out a sharp gasp, feeling his cheeks flush in embarrassment at his immediate response to her actions. “Oh my god, Jade.” His words came out a little breathy, like he was having trouble even concentrating enough to form them.
Jade didn't respond, just shifted again, angling her head for better access. Normally, when things got to about this point, Beck would try to soften them, but he was showing no signs of doing so right now, so she pressed onward. She sank her teeth in a little deeper, drawing the patch of skin into her mouth, keeping one hand on his shoulder to stay steady.
Beck tightened his grip on her waist, leaning his head back against the couch to give her better access. As her teeth sank in deeper, he practically mewled in response, and felt his face flush harder. He wasn’t sure whether that was from embarrassment or just from how into this he was, but he couldn’t bring himself to care so long as she kept doing what she was doing.
Jade released her bite on his skin, gently kissing his collarbone once more before sitting up and facing him. "So..." she trailed off. It seemed so juvenile to ask if he'd liked that or where he wanted to go from there, so she just sat for a moment, hoping he'd give her some kind of indication of what he wanted without having to be asked.
Beck grinned at her, finding it a little funny and very her to end something like that with a simple ‘so’. “Have I told you that I absolutely adore you, lately?” He asked, pressing a soft kiss to her lips.
"Hmm." Jade tapped her chin, pretending to think. "Not in the last five minutes, no. But you can feel free to reiterate it."
"Mmm. Well, you're amazing," he murmured against her cheek, seemingly unable to draw his lips away from her long enough to speak properly.
"You're pretty amazing, yourself."
Beck smiled. "Thanks, baby."
"Anything else I can do for the birthday boy?" she laughed.
"I'm sorry, who said I was done making out with you?"
"Who's the one busy gazing up at me in adoration?"
"You're gorgeous, it's very distracting."
"My apologies."
"It's alright," he joked, "I think I can find it in my heart to forgive you." Beck wasn't sure what Jade was thinking, but he could tell that something was up. "Um, we could just watch a movie or something. If you want."
Jade shrugged. "If that's what you want, then sure."
"I- I don't know. What's the problem, babe?"
Jade looked down at him, puzzled. "Why would you think there's a problem?"
"You're just kind of acting like there is..."
"No, I'm just... I like making out with you a lot. And I like holding you and touching you and all of that, I just don't want to push you or anything because I remember what happened the last time I did that. I want you to decide, you know?"
Beck nodded. "I appreciate that but I mean, you're not pushing me. I- I want to make out with you." Just when he thought the deep blush to his cheeks had disappeared, there it was, heating up his cheeks again. "So, can I kiss you now?"
"Oh. Okay then." Jade smiled at him, charmed by his sweet request for permission. "Yes, you may."
Beck leaned in, pressing his lips to hers a little hesitantly. He kept this kiss a lot softer and sweeter than the last few they'd shared, still slightly worried that he'd made a wrong step with her or something. "Jade?" He asked quietly, pulling back just enough to ask but not quite looking at her.
"What?" She asked, a little confused as to what the issue was now.
"I, um. Is there anything you...want?"
"Like... what?"
Beck was blushing even harder now. "Well, you just...used your teeth on me. And I'd like to like...return the favor or something."
"Honestly, all I really want is you. When you're ready. Til then, you can just kiss me and I'll be happy." She paused, debating her next few words. " And... And I guess I kinda like it when you touch my waist, but you do that all the time anyway."
"You do?" He was a little surprised at that, grabbing her waist was something he did mostly without thinking and it wouldn't have occurred to him that she had any real opinion on it.
"Yeah. Think about it. You're the only person who can touch me there." Now it was her turn to blush, staring down at her hands in her lap. "It feels weirdly intimate. So I like it."
"You're damn right I'm the only person who can touch you there," he half joked, squeezing her waist as though to emphasise his point. He was a little surprised by her explanation and how sweet it was. "You know, one of the reasons I love you biting me is...I kind of like being marked as yours."
"Really?"
"Yeah. I mean, it's hot as hell anyway, but if anyone saw this," he tapped the red mark that was already appearing over his collarbone, "I don't think there'd be a doubt in their mind who I belong to."
Jade smiled, pleased, but before Beck could say anything else, she was lunging for him without warning. She latched on to another spot on the side of his neck, sucking on his pulse point and digging her teeth deep into his skin.
Beck let out a yelp as Jade lunged, having not expected that at all. "Jaade." Her name came out more like a moan and he shifted, trying to press his neck up closer into the sharp clamp of her teeth on his skin.
Jade just bit down harder, spurred on by him all but moaning her name, determined to leave another mark.
He moaned louder, nothing coherent even making it past his lips this time. He shifted again, trying to inch himself closer to her. Beck's breaths were coming in hard gasps; he was unbelievably turned on and hardly able to even think straight.
"Damn, you really do like that, don't you?" Jade asked when she finally pulled away.
Beck nodded, not trusting himself to speak, and feeling a little self-conscious about his reaction to her. He placed his free hand on her waist and pulled her right in close to his chest, pressing a kiss to her cheek. Then another, to the corner of her lips, and a final kiss on her lips.
Jade let out a little noise of approval when he pulled her closer, loving how it felt to be so near to him. She smiled to herself, leaning into the kiss and just enjoying being so wrapped up with him. She never felt more at ease than when she was with Beck, and it was like she never wanted that feeling to end.
Beck smiled into the kiss, happy that he was able to elicit a small noise from Jade after all the sound she'd gotten him to make with her teeth scraping across his neck. He broke the kiss after a few moments, resting his forehead against hers and keeping her pulled just as closely against him. Honestly, he was still a little keyed up from her biting him, and he was trying to calm himself down a little as he took a few deep breaths.
Jade was curled up in Beck's lap, tangled up with him and breathing him in, confused as to why he had broken their kiss in favor of just holding her. She could feel his heart thumping through his shirt; could feel the way he was trying to breathe deeply, and it made her kind of concerned. "Baby," she piped up, "are you okay?"
"Yeah...Of course I am. Why?" She sounded concerned, and he didn't know what could have possibly brought that on.
"You sound like you're trying not to hyperventilate, but, you know, other than that..."
Beck huffed out a quiet laugh. "I'm fine."
"Suuure."
"You just got me a little...you know."
"A little... what?" Jade asked innocently. She knew exactly what he was talking about, but she wanted to hear him say it.
“Hot, turned on, whatever you want to call it.” He was pointedly not looking at her, something made difficult by how close they were to each other right now.
"Maybe now you'll understand how you make me feel," she replied, the words slipping out without much thought. She felt herself blushing and looked down, staring at her hands and not making eye contact with him.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” For a moment he had thought that had been some sort of comment about him or something but then she was blushing and he had no idea what to make of it at all.
"It means that- that how you felt when I was doing that- that's how you make me feel a lot of the time," she muttered. Her face felt unbearably hot, and she was sure she was turning a completely horrifying shade of crimson.
“I- I do?” He watched as her face reddened slightly, surprised with how uncomfortable she seemed to be talking about this. “A lot of the time?”
"Yeah, I mean... yeah. All those times I pushed you, it... It wasn't without reason."
“Oh,” he said, surprise evident in his voice. He could tell that she was embarrassed, and he wasn’t trying to make it worse, but it felt like completely new information and he was struggling to process it. “I guess I’ve been pretty wrapped up in my own issues, so I just didn’t really think about what you were thinking or whatever and- I mean, I’m sorry.”
"No, it's fine. I wasn't really all that up front about it, I just assumed you knew. And that wasn't exactly fair."
“I- I didn’t. Know, I mean.”
"Well, now you do."
“So. You’re really into me, huh?” Beck teased, unable to help himself.
"Yes, dumbass," Jade admitted through gritted teeth. "Now stop it or I'll never do the biting thing ever again."
“Okay, okay. I’m stopping, I swear,” he rushed out his words practically all in the one breath. He wasn’t sure how serious she was but he didn’t want to test his limits, and he really didn’t want to embarrass her, either. “It’s nice to hear, but I’m dropping it now.”
"Thank you."
“What should we do now?”
Jade shrugged. "Each other."
Beck didn’t make a response so much as let out a sound that was more like a squeak, any words he would have said catching in his throat and causing him to cough rather violently.
"Oh god, please don't choke and die on your birthday."
“I’m not,” he managed to choke out, “But Jesus, Jade.”
"What?"
“You can’t just say that.”
"...Oh."
“You got any other ideas?”
"Not really," she admitted. You?"
“Yeah, I might have one.”
"What might that be?"
“Dance with me.”
Jade raised an eyebrow at him. "Seriously?"
“Yeah, seriously. Come on, it’ll be fun.”
"I am not going to get up and dance with you as if I didn't spend the last twenty minutes doing everything I could to make you moan. Can't we just make out some more instead?"
“We can make out more later. Dance with me, pleease?”
"You're so weird!"
“You love me. Come on, I’ll hold your waist and everything.”
Jade rolled her eyes. "I shouldn't have told you that."
“And I clearly shouldn’t have told you how much I love you using your teeth on me.” He ran a hand along the raised skin on the side of his neck, smirking a little.
"You sounded like you were enjoying yourself, I didn't hear you complaining."
“Baby, please?”
Jade's heart melted like it always did when he called her that. "Fine," she huffed, crawling out of his lap and getting to her feet. "One dance. And only because it's your birthday."
“Thank you,” he replied, climbing to his feet after her. He pressed a kiss to her cheek before moving over to turn on some music. Beck didn’t want anything too classical and ridiculous so he settled on one of his favorite songs by Alexander Cardinale. “May I have this dance?” He asked, offering his hand to Jade as the song started gently playing throughout the living room.
Jade couldn't help but smile at him, placing her hand in his. "You may."
Beck wasn’t exactly the best dancer in the world, but he was a lot better when there was no one really watching, and he thought he could handle waltzing his girlfriend around his living room. He kept his hand in hers, sliding his other arm around her waist. He danced her around in lazy circles until he decided to try something different and spin her around a little.
Jade let out a little laugh as he twirled her around, enjoying their dance in spite of herself. She'd heard the song in the car with him a couple of times, and she really liked it, plus she could tell it meant something to Beck since he'd picked it without any hesitation at all. She squeezed his hand as he waltzed her around, loving how genuine this whole thing felt.
Beck smiled at the sound of her laugh, glad that she was enjoying herself despite her reluctance. He spun them around one more time before slowing his steps and pulling her in closer to him; the arm he had wrapped around her waist drawing her in against chest. They were still moving a little, and the song continued to play, but Beck’s focus was entirely on the girl in his arms.
Jade let herself be pulled closer, turning slightly and laying her head against Beck's chest so she could hear his heartbeat thudding in her ear as the final lyrics to the song rang out: There's not much that I know; been searching high and low. The one thing that is true? Darling, I was made for you.
Beck dropped his head down to rest his chin on top of her head, arms tightening around her ever so slightly as the music faded. The song had ended, and he’d agreed to only one dance, but they weren’t really moving anymore anyway and he wasn’t at all ready to let go of her just yet. He thought that this had to be the best birthday he had ever had, spending so much time with his favorite person in the world and getting to hold her close at every opportunity.
"I love you, baby," Jade mumbled, hugging him close and curling her body against his.
Roman slipped his arm through his flannel, pulling it around his tshirt to hug his frame. His eyes flickered down to the bedside table to check the clock as he grabbed his coat and beanie. Anticipation was building inside of him as he thought about the activities to come. He had been in New York for a good two years and he still hadn't gone on an adventure around the city. It was astonishing to him, seeing as he liked to live his life by taking risks, moving to New York being one of them. Getting lost around the city sounded like a great idea, especially since it was with a girl he liked. Eloise was the perfect person to go with too - she was practically as eager as he was, plus he enjoyed spending time with her more than he liked to admit. He was so comfortable around her it almost scared him, yet he couldn't bring himself to pull away from her.
Stuffing his keys and wallet into his pocket, Roman glanced around his room one last time before exiting his room and heading up to Eloise's floor. Upon arriving, he curled his fingers into a fist and lightly pounded on the door. Taking a step back from the door, he bounced back and forth on the balls of his feet as he waited for her to appear. He could feel his heart beating hard against his chest, nervousness and excitement bubbling up inside him. His lips curled into a grin once the door swung open and he stepped forward, leaning against the door frame. "There's my partner in crime. Ready to go get lost?" He asked, eyebrows raised.

She opened up her door and skipped around, closing the door after he walked in and plopping down on the couch in the main room. "So, shall we start right in? Or shall I make the popcorn first?" she said with a chuckle.
