female robbery // hunter & delia
Since he’d arrived at the camp, Hunter had wanted to get back out to the mall that he’d been attacked in. It wasn’t for closure or to see if there were any supplies he missed, it was for much more personal reasons. When he and Nik first started ‘noticing each other’, Nik had left him numerous trinkets and random gifts that had eventually won Hunter’s favour. He kept them in a box, they were dumb things like playing cards and marbles and buttons but they mattered to Hunter. They were the only things he had in the world that he kept because he wanted them, not because he needed them.
When Hunter was attacked, the shoebox was lost during his escape and not having it in his possession bugged him to near insanity. He missed the comfort of being able to get the box out and look through the strange little items in there, remembering genuinely good times and feeling all the better for it.
After he’d fucked up his shoulder for the second time, Hunter had come to quite like Delia. She took good care of him, patching him up and making sure he kept the wound clean so it would heal properly. Hunter tried not to make assumptions but he liked to think she was trustworthy, that she was someone that would give him help if he asked for it and that she’d be able to handle herself should the situation call for it. Hunter needed to get that box back but he couldn’t do it alone, not when he was still hurt but the knowledge that his box was still in there was making him agitated.
“I need you help with something,” Hunter said to Delia, using that as his opening line for their conversation. There was no use in beating about the bush. “There’s an abandoned mall a couple of miles from camp and I need to go there,” he explained, “you remember how I told you I got attacked there just before I came to the camp? That’s where it happened. When I was trying to escape I lost something in there and I need to get it back, Will you come with me?”
