Back At Your Door || Miles & Henry
Miles stumbled as he walked, struggling to carry two suitcases and keep his balance at the same time. Luckily, he was close now. Only a few more blocks and he’ll reach his destination. The blonde would probably have given it some thought first if it wasn’t for his alcohol clouded mind, but it wasn’t like he had anywhere else to go. After TJ had made it clear that he didn’t want him around, Miles had left the dorm and waited until the next day until his roommate had gone to class to gather his things. Now, he could only hope Henry wouldn’t he mad for all the time he had ignore his calls and texts. Or for him showing up unannounced, in the middle of the night. But as Miles stood at Henry’s door, he let all those thoughts go, no use to worry now. Ringing the doorbell, he waited. Sporting a puppy dog look as he glanced up to meet his lover’s eyes as the door was opened. “Hey, can I stay here tonight? ” He asked, quietly.
Grand Entrance
Alexandra hadn’t wanted to be married so soon, but Edward insisted. Edward always insisted, and she dutifully answered as the younger sister of a monarch should do so. She’d spend forty-five minutes arguing with their mother, and finally she signed the papers assuring that she would go through with the marriage for her brother’s sake. Taking a deep breath, she checked the mirror before she stepped out into the hallway.
Henry was to be waiting for her in one of the parlors her mother kept for visitors. Lex didn’t really much care for entertaining company. If anything, she preferred to spend her time alone. That’s how most of her time was spent anyway, outside of her responsibilities of being visible to the public. The news of her engagement had broken before she’d even formally met her husband-to-be.
Her legs would barely take her through the hallway, wanting nothing more than to stall the encounter. Finally she had the doors opened for her as she walked into the large, somewhat tacky parlor and found the man standing alone, waiting for her. Her presence was announced, and she forced the smile onto her face. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, Henry.”
Playing with Fire || Miles & Henry
Miles was kneeling on the middle of the bed, nervously glancing at the door as he waited for Henry to get home. He had followed the older male’s instructions, the collar still being the only thing he was wearing. As the minutes passed by, a mix of excitement and apprehension was taking over. He couldn’t help but wonder what his lover had in store for him, and was more than eager to find out. The blonde reached over to take his phone and check the time again seconds before he heard the front door opening. Releasing a breath he didn’t realize he was holding, the younger male dropped his phone back into the mattress as he listened to Henry moving around as the other walked towards the bedroom. “Hi, daddy.” He greeted sheepishly, looking up at him.
Who am I to you?
Unexpectedly: everything.
Nobody would’ve ever imagined she’d end up so close with somebody from Cávado, herself included, but Henry had been an exception to many of her rules from the very start. Lara had heard about his fighting prowess during her first fight club’s early days, and she’d sought him out personally as a result. That wasn’t something she’d typically do anyway, so meeting him was fate in a way, she supposes. Their relationship now is too much of a blessing for it not to have been.
Lara doesn’t make a habit of needing people, because so many of those she should’ve, wanted to, or did rely on left her. But she let him become so entangled in her life (especially when he became her bodyguard) that she couldn’t help it. Things had always been different. She was so used to fucking and manipulating and treating the men around her like pawns, the fact that she avoided all of that with him, even before they got so close, made that much clear. For that reason he was always set apart from the others, and he still very much is. Everyone knows it.
Apart from her family, he’s undoubtedly the person she’s closest to, and even then, there are some things she’s shared with him that she hasn’t even told her siblings. That trust was obviously not immediate, but it certainly came more quickly than it does with most. Henry doesn’t judge her, genuinely, and she knows that. He understands her in ways others don’t. What she needs, how she’s feeling without needing to say it. He knows when she needs space, and when she definitely doesn’t. He stays with her when she can’t sleep, and he puts up with her drunk ramblings when she’s trying to numb her feelings. He understands that she’s sad and lonely and she hopes he knows that he’s usually the one who makes that go away.
He makes her feel safe, no matter how much he might blame himself for the terrible things that’ve happened to her over the years.
He also brings out the best in her, and everybody but her can see that.
Does Lara have feelings for him? Yes. Is it something she’s willing to confront? No.
The fact he means so much to her is exactly the reason she refuses to even think about it. Lara has fucked up every relationship she’s been a part of. She’s hurt and lost some of the best people she’s ever known because of a whole host of her own issues. Would she be happy with Henry? Of course she would. She is every day they spend together, and will be for the rest they have, because they flourish in each other’s company. But if she took that chance and fucked it up, just like she manages to fuck up everything else, losing him would be unmanageable. The prospect of hurting him isn’t worth the risk. Henry is the only person outside of her family who hasn’t left her, and I honestly don’t think she’d cope if she was the one to push him away.
