Dinner had been arrange, not something Victor particularly was thrilled about.  But as the Prince of Illyria and the peacekeeper of the Winter women he found it his duty to be present.  Victor arrived at the castle early, something he knew he would regret later.  However, with his need to be punctual surpassed the regret he would endure.  The young prince was greeted by the staff and he of course smiled and made small talk with the people, thankful for their service to his family.  It was then he was greeted by his mother, who quickly noticed he was by himself.  “Where is Angelo?”  A sore topic for Victor, but as always his mother ripped off the band-aid.  “He will not be joining us this evening or any evening in the foreseeable future.  And no mother, I do not want to discuss it.”  He said sternly wishing to keep at least one thing to himself.
Thankfully his mother strayed away from the topic of his love life for now, though he was certain she was just waiting for the opportune time to mention it. Â The two discussed a variety of things, mainly his eldest sister and the politics of running the country. Â There were bits where she mentioned his service as well. He just hoped either Alexandra or Katherine would appear soon so the awkwardness of this conversation would disappear. Â A smile appeared when he saw one of his sisters standing there. Â Quickly getting up on his feet, he walked over towards them and hugged her.
Alexandra knew she was late, but her mother would forgive her for it. Unfortunately, it wasn’t something work-related that had kept her, but another fantastic fight with her wonderful husband. It seemed as if every time they had alone together, Henry would ind some way to say something meaningless that would set her off, just like a ticking time bomb. The worst part was, Lex knew that’s what he wanted. He thrived off of infuriating her, and she fed into it every time.
Her arms went around Victor’s shoulders. It was good to hug her brother, have someone give her some sort of affection that wasn’t to be used to get their way. It was just a simple, honest hug. Victor didn’t want her to do anything other than be his sister, and she could never describe what that meant to her. “Hello, baby brother. You look well. I’m sorry I haven’t been able to see you for so long. You know how Henry gets. The man-child takes up all of my time not dedicated to the country.” She spoke low, just low enough not to alert her mother that she didn’t want to be heard. Lex gave Victor a soft cheek kiss, not giving him a moment to speak before she addressed her mother. There would be plenty of time for that later.
“Hello, Mother.” She nodded at the dowager queen before she took a seat. “Thank you for waiting for me. I wasn’t planning on being so late, but I suppose that’s the nature of my life now.” With a brow raised, she noticed Victor was in attendance alone, just as herself. The Winters children couldn’t seem to keep their love lives at any sort of happy medium to speak of. The constant public eye did not help a thing.Â
