Business Opportunities || Charlie & Ray
Charlie grabbed the bottle of bottle self bourbon from her bag. It been over a week since Charlie had last seen Ray and he mentioned having a deal he wanted to make with her. It was still a strange idea to her. What could someone have that they thought would be a good deal with the military?
It was Ray though. And Charlie liked to think she had become close with the man even if it was because she gave him ration cards for him to give her booze. That was a still a good relationship in her book. She respected Ray, making a business in a time like this. It was pretty damn cleaver in her mind.
Charlie knew that most people started to spend less money on Sunday due to being pretty much out of cards. It was normally the first day that less people started showing up for meals in the main mess hall. Trying to make sure they saved enough to eat for the rest of the week Charlie also knew the bar would be slower, and that even if people were coming in, it wouldn’t be earlier since people would want to come in later to us the booze to fill their empty stomachs.
She always hated not being able to give out more. Not being able to give seven cards at least so people could have a meal each day. But they made sure the people had enough to live. Sure, it wasn’t as easy as before, warm meal 3 times a day, but it was enough. Charlie shook the thoughts from her head as she made her way through the market and into the bar.
The was one man sitting as the farthest table back as Charlie pulled out a stool right up front. She dropped her bag on the table and pulled out the bottle. “I’ll trade ya for a drink?” Charlie smiled knowing it wouldn’t be a problem.
“I tried to get her before you got too busy.”
