Speaker Mike Johnson is just two heartbeats away from the presidency. More importantly from a MAGA viewpoint, he translates Trumpspeak into more politically respectable English.
But with Trump's increasingly public episodes of dementia, Speaker Johnson is now trying to cover (or cover up) for Trump's instability. Seth Myers played a clip of Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-PA-04) confronting Johnson about Trump being "unhinged" and "unwell". But Johnson just brushes off Dean's comments while trying to look unconcerned about Trump but apparently not really disagreeing with his colleague.
Republicans are trying to stick the country with the extremist Project 2025 agenda while ignoring the fact that their president, who's in charge of pushing that agenda, is deteriorating mentally on almost a daily basis.
