The later pieces of the musicians of the 90's electronica boom tend to be compared with their earlier releases, which makes sense, it's always like this, yet the fact that they are mostly disparaged for them begs a question – are they really that bad? I am not claiming that all the contemporary tunes by Tricky, Fatboy Slim, Unkle and others of that scene reach the heights of those they did before, but they are not as terrible as William Shatner's musical career. Unkle, since I mentioned them, still work on their music, even though it didn't really go beyond the mood of their debut. While their sonic landscape continues to be dark, their ways of achieving it differ. They complement their electronics with the rock instrumentation, i.e. their mindset remained in the 90's, when many tried to combine rock and electronica.
