It is important that we study our history, our true history. We have to know where we came from to know who we are; and we have to analyze the past and the present to find out what laws will apply for the future. Part of being oppressed is constantly being told by the slave owner that we have no roots, no history, no past, nothing from which we can build. We are told that anything that might have come before us didn't amount to two cents anyhow, and that the reality of things is that we have to start from scratch. Every new generation is made to believe that in order to move against the enemy, we have to start from the beginning, rather than take a look into our collective history, and see what mistakes and successes were made before. This is how capitalists remain on top; through lies and gaps of their educational system they are able to maintain their false superiority.
