Paces Lift - "Panther's Pyramid"

The first BeatsOnFilm.Tumblr.com project just in time for Halloween! From Seattle Producer Paces Lift. PL: "I was initially inspired by STL emcee Hears Kra-Z when I sampled this originally. I remember him doing a perfect impersonation of the "what's a matter Mr. Pratt?", the final line of the film. Also, Ted Danson being buried alive continuously haunted my childhood, it was oddly inspiring facing a childhood fear.. I didn't want to loop the theme over and over, I wanted to try and make it stop midpoint or unexpectedly and start over again to build the suspense of what was coming but also have the drums stay on time. I think it worked..After sampling the opening theme all the drums I was trying to add to give it movement weren't working. Finally I settled on a mixture of 80's kits + marching drum samples that my guy Helias gave me years ago. I added a gallon of reverb to the snare and was pleased enough with the result. Then I went back and added the vocal, horror and scream sound effects from the movie for added freakish flavor and context of theme. For the final touch I played a hardware analog Korg synth for the background bass keys and added some guitar distortion for extra grime."
