Tomorrow!
The waiting game is down to its last crucial hours. I am running around my house like a nut case! I have been dancing around to some amazing music, double checking all my packing lists, and cleaning up my room! And I think I am almost ready to leave tomorrow!
That is right, I leave tomorrow!! I am so excited for this new journey I am about to embark on.
I have been so fortunate enough to be surrounded by so many supporting people in my life. I said "see you later" to many friends and family over the past weekend. They have truly helped shape me to who I am, and I love each and everyone of them for it. My parents had a big dinner for the whole family to come over and celebrate. My dad's toast rocked! Then the night before I went to visit Towson University to celebrate my birthday and Americorps with some of the best people I know. I was so happy to see everyone from my roommates, to my concert crew, to my fellow Brothers from Gamma Pi, and to my old co-workers. It was an incredible night! I was sad for a few minutes but then was reminded that I would see them again for New Years which made it all better! (Hope for no natural disaster or snow to keep me from getting there)
Now back to tomorrow!
There are few things I am hoping to accomplish during my first month in California:
1. Eat an "Animal Style" burger from In-N-Out (Suggested by Carina)
2. Visit Sacramento (I really want to check out a record shop someone mentioned. My goal of buying a record player is in sight!)
3. Visit San Francisco/climb twin peaks (Where I will blast the Mowgli's)
4. Go to at least two concerts (I am two away from going to 60 concerts in my lifetime!)
5. Take lots of pictures
6. Figure out a way to intern/volunteer/work with Do It For The Love Foundation! (My ultimate dream job)
Fingers crossed I can!
I am so excited I doubt I will be able to sleep tonight. This is my last post until NCCC begins and I will do my best keeping it updated throughout the next 10 months!
Until Cali,
-Meg
20 Days!
Since I have 20 days until I leave, I decided to create a California, Traveling, Flying, Wanderlust, playlist for my flight. Who knows I might be one of the lucky ones who have to take 5 flights just to get to Sacramento. (Fingers crossed I don't)
So I asked all my friends to send my songs about these topics.. Plus I added a few of my own favorites. And I must say, the result is amazing! Here is a link to the playlist through spotify: California Dreaming
It is safe to say I'll be flying with California inspired music!

First Things First.
For those of you who do not know, about 6 months ago (Jan/Feb 2014), while job searching along with the rest of the class of 2014 all over the world, I came across Americorps. I had heard about it in a couple classes in college but never actually looked into it until I stumbled upon it by searching something along the lines of "I JUST WANT TO DO GOOD THINGS IN THE WORLD".
Fast forward to March 2014 (first day of my spring break to be exact, don't think I'm really cool, I was going to work) when I woke up received my "congrats, you've been accepted into Americorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) Pacific Region" e-mail at 7am. I have never been happier to have to wake up on a Friday morning at what seemed to be the crack of dawn.
April 2014: I officially received my welcome packet basically saying "awesome you haven't committed serious crimes and you seem to be healthy, welcome."
May 2014: Finally graduated college (William Paterson University))
June-August 2014: worked my last summer (hopefully not forever) at Sabattis Adventure Camp as a C.O.P.E. Director.
August 28th, 2014: 1:06 AM here I am writing this because I have been putting this off and I can't sleep which I guess is awesome.
So stay tuned. follow me on my adventures around the Pacific Region - AK, CA, HI, ID, MT, NV, OR, UT, WA, WY, and Pacific Territories.
