Resting on a mound of snow, three Snow Petrel, Pagodroma nivea, survey the edge of the pack ice from the top of an icefloe in the Antarctic. This whitest of petrels is an ice specialist, feeding on small crustaceans and other invertebrates living in the fragmented pack, bergy bits and brash ice in the Antarctic Ocean, especially around and south of the Antarctic Polar circle.
Descansando en un montículo de nieve, tres Petreles de las Nieves, Pagodroma nivea, vigilan el borde de la plataforma de hielo desde la cúspide de un iceberg en Antártica. Este, el más blanco de los petreles, es un especialista de aguas marinas con témpanos, alimentándose de crustáceos y otros invertebrados que viven en los fragmentos de banquisa en el océano Antártico, especialmente en las cercanías y al sur del círculo polar antártico.
