the app takes up a lot of storage with files that don't seem necessary after special events are over etc. would you guys know which files are essential or can be deleted to free up space?

Um, I reeeeeeally wouldn’t recommend deleting files at random, but what you can do is uninstall and reinstall the app (after making sure your account is connected first), since this gets rid of any leftover junk from previous updates and frees up a shitload of space. :)
