Derby Diary
So i've been so busy i haven't had a chance to update here! Last wedenesday session was really good, spent some time learning the rules of sin bin, i.e. how to enter and how not to enter. It was helpful, and i found doing the NSO-ing the week before was useful as i knew some of the rules ect already. We then did some work on powerjams. To begin with we just watched others demo but then we joined as blockers. It was great! Im not entirly sire what i actually did as it was very quick but i loved it!
So last night! First - i have new wheels! That are great! They were so much better than my previous ones, and i felt much more secure on them - less like i was going to fly off the track on the corners! In wreck we played with the cones, and practiced the weaving - i managed to get it down from 7.22 to 6.19 seconds - i was so close, but didn't quite make it - next time for definate!!
Single and alternative knee taps are the most irritaiing thing ever, i just can't seem to get them! Our coach has suggested i try new knee pads that are a little bit more padded, i'd have to sink down less to do them so i may try that next week - i just want to get these skills ticked off!!
We did some pushes and hits this week, which i was quite excited about. The pushes were great, and a good way to travel the track fast - i enjoyed them and the hits were fun too! We did shoulder hits, these are much easier to do to people on the outside than inside, kept getting my timing wrong - but its more important that we can take a hit than give a hit. I got all these skills ticked off so i was happy.
We also did more packwork - i enjoy this and my sticky skating has come on loads from before - i was actually able to keep up by sticky skating which is more than before! I also got the remanining pack work skills ticked off - weaving, taking hits, stall block and plows.
Laps - up to 24 and 3/4 this week! Getting there slowly! New wheels were very helpful! This wednesday session is all about laps so hopefully by tomorrow i'll get them!
Once again some great sessions - i really feel like im not to bad at this, i feel like im making progress! I'm so impressed with how much i can do as well, i honestly thought i'd still be falling over all the time when i started doing this! Love derby so much!
