Personality description:
Athanasia never fails to come off as a social butterfly: she likes to observe people and blend into the crowd. She’s conversational and quick to make friends, though that’s about where it ends. All the connections she makes and friendships she strikes are superficial at best; they are merely transient links which keep her tethered to the physical world on Earth which she prefers much more to the incorporeal existence granted to her in Sheol. And, precisely because she strikes insincere connections only, she often fails to acknowledge or even notice the subtleties and nuances of relationships on Earth, making her a rather unreliable, if not fickle acquaintance who is perfect for parties and adventures, but awful for anything more candid or genuine.
Much like the rest of her kind, she is sneaky and manipulative; she is her own number one priority and is unlikely to endanger herself to save or help another person. She finds comfort in isolation and will sometimes disappear from the figurative and literal face of the Earth, without notice, to “recharge” (her words).
On top of it all, she has a bit of an obsessive personality and dislikes her belongings touched, moved or tidied without her knowledge or supervision. Her rocks-and-crystals collection, for instance, is off limits, unless one wants their greedy hands gone.
♚ // Character; PowersMagical Powers:
· Soul binding contract: once summoned, Athanasia will challenge her summoner to a game of poker (or any other convenient game of their choosing); if they win, they can ask for anything (except immortality), live out the rest of their natural life and their soul will be allowed to pass and be tormented for the rest of eternity (what a deal!). But wait, there’s more: if Athanasia wins, the wish is granted, naturally, but she gets to keep the soul and turn it into her own post-mortem minion and the summoner will be granted one or two more decades of life.
· Tracking: Once a contract is signed, both parties have unconditional…access, so to speak, to one another; this means that the summoner can always repeat the ritual to summon her, and Athanasia is always aware of where her new contractor is and what they’re doing.
Non-magical Powers:
· She crochets in her free time and is quite good at it; and while we’re at art, she’s also quite good at ballroom dancing
· Despite her petite size, she can throw a punch when needed, though she is not all too confrontational and will avoid conflict with more powerful beings like the plague
Weaknesses:
· Her “soul minions”, as she calls them, have an expiry date; usually, if the soul was extremely corrupt during its human life, the body is durable for at least two or three years, however the less sinful the soul the shorter the lifespan of the “minion”; generally speaking, the bodies she makes are susceptible to any powerful being’s powers and Athanasia, thus, uses her wee “legions of the dead” as meat shields when she is in trouble.
· She is unable to read any holy books, of any religion; she cannot enter any sort of holy or blessed lands or touch any object that is owned or blessed by a “holy” or “pure” being (including but not limited to angels, priests, etc).
· The contracts she signs cannot be broken: meaning, if she does anything that violates her side of the deal, she risks banishment or even destruction.

With no recollection of a beginning, and no promise of an ending, it may be no wonder that, when she came down (or was it up?) to the human world for the first time, the demonness adopted the name “Athanasia” – one who does not die, an immortal.
Unlike Sheol, a realm of the damned which defied any and all logic and physics of space- time, Earth had plenty to offer and very little to take from Athanasia and as such it came to be her own home, one built on idle promises and fleeting pleasures. On an unstable, adolescent Earth, whose innumerable souls of the living molded it into a playground to the insatiable immortals, in the cracks between the human and the damned, amongst the misfits, prudently treading between the lines of the law-abiding, Athanasia fostered herself an existence far more auspicious than Sheol ever could. And yet, a contradiction arises: no matter how lackluster Sheol had proved itself to be, Athanasia could not help but be drawn back to it, time and time again, for there was never any other plane that spoke to her soul – if she had one to begin with. What was it really, she often wondered, that filled the vacuum inside a demon’s corporeal form, of its vessel’s core? A soul, or something Less brittle, but more evanescent? Or was it the damned that were bereft of that willpower which human souls took such great pride in?
Whatever it was, at the very least, the demonness knew that hers could not be bargained with, and theirs, the humans’, could be handled in any way she pleased as long as it was hers to handle. An existence in which she only took and managed, without challenge or resistance, however, became mind-numbing in just a couple of centuries, and with boredom looming in every crevice and around every corner, Athanasia soon found herself at a crossroads: should she return to Sheol and tend to the matters of the damned and the dead there, or should she add a brand new model to her life as a pact demon? Needless to say, her choice was obvious: as one who constantly craved adventure and challenge, Athanasia could not resist upping the game and creating a world within a world of her own.
And so, Athanasia became an immovable force which, over and over again, met with objects who wished to be unstoppable. Her contractors became players in a game of pure luck, bargaining not just their souls, but, in theory, their bodies as well. It was simple, really: win and you get not just nearly anything your heart desires but a chance to live out your natural life; lose, and your wish is granted at a twisted price: a mere decade or two left to live, and your soul a slave to Athanasia’s magic post-mortem, for as long as the soul would permit. Queens and pretenders to the throne, artists, politicians and common folk alike, all came to be her next challengers – every one, unmistakably, was filled with unjustified bravado, but most suffered defeat; those who won were a treat to be celebrated, however, a fine delicacy which Athanasia knew would be worth the devouring when time came.
After so many centuries of playing games, however, not even a reputable status among the damned was enough to keep her sated. Though learned enough in the ways of humans, Athanasia made a decision – on pure whim, truly – to slip beyond the veil of magic and build herself a home, for as long as circumstances would permit, among others of preternatural origins at an Academy far from the establishments of mankind.
