On the topic of space marriages...
Cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko got married to his wife WHILE he was on the International Space Station in August 2003!
Malenchenko participated in the ceremony over a video link from the ISS while his bride, Ekaterina Dmitriev, posed beside a cardboard cutout of the cosmonaut in his uniform and bowtie.
As the ISS re-emerged into the sunlight, Dmitriev began to walk down the aisle while her groom orbited 250 miles above her!
The happy newlyweds reunited back on Earth in late October, 2003, but Malenchenko continued to reach for the stars – he got married during his third time in space, and flew three more long-duration missions after that! Ultimately, Malenchenko holds the second-highest record of most time spent in space, with a grand total of 827.4 days – narrowly beating Sergei Krikalev and just barely losing against Gennady Padalka!
