Nakshatras and Padas

Each Nakshatra, a vital component of Vedic astrology, plays a crucial role in accurate future predictions. Divided into four Padas, each covering 3 degrees and 20 minutes, these segments are fundamental to understanding an individual's life goals and their pathways to achievement.

A Nakshatra reflects one's ultimate aspiration or life purpose, while a Nakshatra Pada represents the specific goals or destinations one aims to achieve. This division helps ascertain how, where, and in what domain one is likely to fulfill their objectives, serving as a valuable guide for navigating life towards fulfillment.

The Padas correspond to the four aims of life in Vedic astrology:

Dharma (righteous living)

Artha (material wealth)

Kama (desires)

Moksha (liberation)

These aims follow the order of the zodiac elements. For example, Ashwini, the first Nakshatra, signifies Dharma; Bharani, the second, signifies Artha; Krittika, the third, signifies Kama; and Rohini, the fourth, signifies Moksha. This sequence continues with some variations, such as Mrigashirsha also being a Moksha Nakshatra.

Each Pada represents one of these four goals and corresponds to a specific element—fire, earth, air, or water. This association offers deeper insights into the nature and qualities of each Nakshatra.

Dharma (Fire/Agni Tattva): The first goal or Pada, Dharma, involves discovering one's purpose and fulfilling soul desires through daily actions. The Agni Tattva Pada represents fire, symbolizing passion, determination, and ambition. Fire, a sacred element in Hinduism, signifies purity, knowledge, and enlightenment. It purifies and is linked with sacrifice, paralleling the idea of individuals following their Dharma making sacrifices for the greater good.

Artha (Earth/Prithvi Tattva): The second goal or Pada, Artha, focuses on generating income and wealth for oneself and loved ones. The Prithvi Tattva Pada represents earth, symbolizing stability, groundedness, and practicality. Artha signifies material wealth and prosperity, essential for fulfilling other life goals. The connection with Earth is rooted in the idea that all material wealth derives from Earth's resources, emphasizing the need to consider the impact of economic activities on these resources.

Kama (Air/Vayu Tattva): The third goal or Pada, Kama, represents the pursuit of desires, whether material possessions or personal relationships. The Vayu Tattva Pada represents air, symbolizing movement, communication, and intellect. Kama encompasses desires for sensual pleasure, physical intimacy, and material possessions, as well as emotional and intellectual aspirations like love and creativity. Like air, desires are subtle, intangible, and essential for motivation and growth.

Moksha (Water/Jal Tattva): The fourth goal or Pada, Moksha, is about liberation and freeing the soul from the cycle of rebirth. The Jal Tattva Pada represents water, symbolizing emotions, intuition, and sensitivity. Moksha signifies liberation from the cycle of birth and death, leading to eternal peace and happiness. Water, associated with life, nourishment, and purification, symbolizes the cleansing of the soul and spiritual enlightenment.

Can anyone be a vedic astrologer or write about vedic astrology ?

The answer is so obvious : a giant no. Yet people on this app, astrology entertainers/bloggers, are trying now to talk about vedic astrology. Is it becoming a trend to put a little bit of vedic astrology inside “astrology observations” which are mostly based on tropical astrology ? Same astrology observations that are so full of stereotypes that make people resent astrology ?

Most of those bloggers don’t know anything about the sacral role of Vedic astrology and they are not trying to. Vedic astrology is based on beliefs, rituals, gods and prayers. Each Nakshatra is ruled by a God. Each planet has a specific role. Nothing is all black or white in Vedic astrology and everything makes so much sense to those who are destined to talk about it. It’s not for everyone. So please. Let’s stop this. And it’s so disrespectful to talk about something that everyone can’t comprehend and spread wrong information about it.

Each post I made on Vedic astrology is based on several sources and also on my own knowledge. I have been studying Vedic for years now and I don’t consider myself knowledgeable enough about the subject, I am still learning so I just avoid pretending that I do because I am constantly evolving and learning about it. I only share what I know when I am certain it can help people. And that’s what astrologers should be about : aiming to help the collective with a knowledge that can be useful, being cautious with it too and learning each day. And not writing about it for the purpose of entertainment, likes, comments and shares.

So let’s be clear : not everyone can talk about Vedic astrology lightly and definitely not to entertain people. It’s not made for entertainment. It’s pure spirituality, it’s part of a religion, of a culture and people daily lives. It’s also part of spiritual rituals so let’s just be more respectful of it and quit trying to use it for entertainment while not backing up by the background knowledge/training/personal placements necessary to talk about it.

{Do I put myself inside those tropical bloggers astrology ? No my content is different and from the very beginning, I never aligned my content with astrology observations that are so popular here. Even if I wanted to I couldn’t. Cause my blog has only one purpose : helping people through astrology. It’s not for entertainment purposes. It will never be.

My goal is to always provide knowledge that can be useful. I am even learning more about Vedic astrology than tropical lately and I want to write exclusively about Vedic astrology from now on. (After finishing my last articles on 12th house signs and placements). I am taking some time off at this moment because I needed a break from writing but I also needed to write about this as I have observed it a lot lately on Tumblr. }

NB : If you want to comment, go ahead leave me a comment I am always open for a good and constructive discussion. 🪂 House 6th house from atmakaraka shows what your weaknesses are and what you need to work on. Not me having 7th house 6th from my atmakaraka and having commitment issues. (Not my observation, general rule) calling out like that wow

🪂 Moon in 12th will give problems related to eyes. Any kind. 🤓

🪂 Jupiter's association with 1st house makes you fat or a slow metabolism or tendency to gain wait easily. Aspects, association with 1st lord, Nakshtara lord, in ashtakvarga table having more score also. Imagine the 🍑 woof !

🪂 Who the hell thinks Gemini moon is emotion less, insensitive and never too committed. The only commonality I have found amongst all is that they get played in relationships a lot. In all cases they were the most serious and committed and the other person not.

🪂 Also I think many Gemini moons because they went a lot of relationship bs, they tend to develop a hard exterior so as to not get hurt which probably explains why they may come across as insensitive. So SPOILER ALERT- they are sensitive! Talk to them, you will know.

🪂 As much as people say virgo placements judge you and are critical of you, I would like to excuse virgo moons of this, they are sensitive to this and probably is the most likely to understand what you would be going through.

🪂 Your d9's 9th lord placement could tell where your mentor figure or guru will come from. It in 4th, your mom, in 9th your father or grandfather, in 10th again father or any one from work,in 2nd someone from family,in 3rd your sibling,your friend or neighbor, in 5th could be a celebrity, in 11th someone from your friend circle, online or even celebrity since you mostly see or hear about them online.

🪂 More than venus, your moon sign, and if you study vedic your pada sign of moon sign which is also your navamsa moon sign would most likely tell what kind of music you like.

🪂 I don't know if I have said this before or not, sun sign square incompatibility is BS. As you age you develop you realise this.

🪂 10th lord in 12th could go on to become spiritual teachers or healers.

🪂 Mars in 12th can have some vivid sexual dreams.

🪂 More than 1st house venus, venus in 2nd has soft and "pretty" appearance.

🪂 In some families, members show similiar 12th house placements indicating that those members are taking birth as a soul group and having deep subconcious links from past lives.

🪂 Same goes for rahu-ketu Nakshtara, your family and or friends that you have known for a long time, will have same Nakshtara with the big 3.

They may feel like somebody is interested in them and make random scenarios in their head when nothing is usually happening and the other person all they did was say 'hi'.

🪂 Mercury dominant culture is not being satisfied when it comes to achieving your dreams or major goals.

🪂 Sagittarius, leos, Aries and Gemini are most likely to reference memes and movies in their daily lives.

🪂 Not only sun when you are reading about father look at Saturn as well because Saturn is authority figures and traditionally men took that power, so when doing any predictive reading look at both, OR you can look for Saturn for your mum as well, it's 2021 both of them are authority figures for you.

🪂 TW: many Saturn in 8th lose their father, mostly unexpectedly.

🪂 7th lord in Saturn Nakshtara gives good Partnerships later in life or after a lot of perseverance but it's the one that usually sticks.

🪂 It's important to see what Nakshtara your planet is before you deem it unfavorable because it's not in a friendly sign in your navamsa. If you have venus in scorpio which is venus' not so desirable sign, you need to check Nakshtara it came from, if it's uttarabhadra it's effects are going to be different than if it were in anuradha. In uttarabhadra venus is coming from its exalted sign and is in their Exalted signs' friendly Nakshtara pada. Whereas in Anuradha's case its in friendly Nakshtara and both in scorpio so 2>1. It's not that simple but keep in mind even if your sign is not favourable in d9 check D1 Nakshtara and sign it's after all your main chart even that's still not satisfactory check d60 sign.

🪂 Mercury in mercury/Jupiter Nakshtara's has amazing teaching abilities, pupils are lucky to have them.

🪂Another indicator to check if the marriage or the one you are supposed to spend your life with would be successful, check planets in 7th or 7th lord of d9 and see if they are friendly with your d1's rising lord or planets, if lords are friendly and not enemies that's a good indication of successful marriage. Success is subjective but you know what I mean.

🪂 Planets don't always favour or are auspicious in certain houses for all divisional charts they keep on changing. Example- venus in 1st or 12th is consider auspicious. In d9 not so much as ,karakas(significators) in 1st don't always perform well in their charts. So venus is significator of your d9 chart so it doesn't good results in 1st house always, and similarly in 12th in d9 it could give no marriage or difficulty in finding partners.

Water + Air energy in a chart makes up for an individual who radiates androgynous vibes.

Noticed this specifically in individuals with Libra + Scorpio energy in their chart.

The anger of a person having Taurus mars builds up slowly. They will resist until you push them over a certain point and then they will burst.

Their anger, however, doesn’t last long. They rarely get angry.

They probably aren’t the ones whom you should tease a lot.

When it comes to wit and humour, I think Scorpios are highly underrated. Especially Scorpio mercuries. Because man, their wit and humour are out of this world.

Sun in 9th house people might’ve lost their dad at a very young age, either literally or metaphorically. This can also apply for sun in the 8th house individuals

Individuals with Prominent placements in Taurus might have stiff bodies.

Moon in 8th house individuals are human lie detectors. They immediately know when someone is lying to them.

Moon in 8th house individuals might have feared the dark or occult but were secretly intrigued by it.

Moon in 8th house individuals might’ve bad period cramps.

Moon in 8th house individuals get terrible headaches too.

They might have bad eyesight too.

The Mercury risings [Gemini and Virgo rising] are more attractive than we give them the credit for.

They are probably some social media influencers.

Gemini rising has a very soothing and seductive voice. Their voice is just very alluring. [2nd house cancer ]

I think of Gemini or Virgo rising as a model placement. Make sense right, they can pull off anything.

One thing that I adore about Libra placements is that they are extremely polite towards people.

Like if they were walking down a street and they saw someone they recognised, they would oh so politely greet them. Even if they don’t talk to them as much. In fact, they would feel bad if they didn’t get the chance to greet them.

I have noticed that men with Scorpio and Capricorn placements are the ones that can actually rock a longer hairstyle or a mullet.

Living with the moon in the 1st house individuals is like walking on eggshells. You don’t know when they will snap or get offended.

These folks bottle up their anger and they burst it all out when arguing over the little things. And if you say 'It’s a small thing' they get more offended.

#Note : Here, when I talk about nakshatras, I mean these nakshatras should be in the your personal placements for these observations to resonate with you all.

People with Swati Nakshatra have great socializing skills and can make friends easily. People just feel at ease talking to them. They are really noble friends to have.

Swati Nakshatra, these people want to include everyone, they don’t want to make anyone feel left out.

Shatabhisha rising, they look so calm and collected man. They rarely have a frown on their face.

Swati rising, 1st and 4th Pada especially, have curvaceous figures. Especially the hips area is more fuller and rounder. The reason would most probably be the Jupiter that is ruling these padas.

The other two padas of this Nakshatra generally have tall and lean figures. Because Saturn rules these padas.

Purvashadha Nakshatra peeps are outspoken but ambitious.

These folks have impeccable taste in fashion and aesthetics.

These peeps work out to keep themselves healthy. The type of workout can be different for each padas cause each Pada has a different ruler.

Pushyami/pushya Nakshatra, these folks are very attractive, with a healthy and gorgeous figure.

Pushya Nakshatra folks have plum lips; the lips are the most attractive feature of their face.

Mrigasira Nakshatra folks will do everything to prove you wrong.

Ardra Nakshatra, 2nd pada are extremely focused on their career. They are talented and they know it.

People with purvabhadrapada Nakshatra receive a lot of respect from people. People genuinely admire them. These peeps like to live a simplistic life and have set morals for themselves.

Sravana nakshatras are very talkative. Especially the 1st pada of this Nakshatra. They are outspoken and fearless.

These people are also very charitable and generous.

Purvaphalgini Nakshatra are destined for fame. They have what it takes to be at the top. Not to mention that they are very creative and confident in their abilities. I mean its Leo so makes sense.

Bharani Nakshatra individuals are extremely bold and independent. They don’t like to be told what to do.

Padas in vedic astrology

 Each of pandas is associated with objects of human pursuits. Puruṣārtha (Sanskrit: पुरुषार्थ) literally means an "object of human pursuit".

1 pada - dharma- moral values, pursuit of righteousness

2 pada - artha- prosperity, pursuit of wealth

3 pada- kama- psychological values, pursuit of seeking pleasure

4 pada- moksha - spiritual values, pursuit of liberation

If there is conflict between this, than kama is more important than dharma and artha.

Hello there ! Hope all is well but I have this strange question 😂 How does padas and nakshatras affect planets and potentially risings ? Ik this sounds dumb but like for example I have a Jyeshtha Mercury and a Anuradha Sun. However the Mercury is in its first pada while the sun is in its third pada. Would that basically influence is what I’m asking 😂. Hope you have a lovely day

Nakshtara are 27 in number and each one has their own features. They go in much more detailed with each sign. The planets that rule the nakshtara hold utmost importance alongside the planet in question. Nakshtara are used to see how the planet is doing in a chart. To see if the planet is in a friendly planet's Nakshatra or enemy's, to see how it would work out. Now your Nakshtara rising is the second most important thing after the moon Nakshtara, its ruler planets hold an important significance in your chart to judge how the overall chart will materialize for you.

Each Nakshtara has 4 padas

1st pada- fire element

2nd pada- earth element

3rd pada- air Element

4th pada- water element

each pada is the even more deepest part of nakshatra of the planet we are talking about. Each planet in whatever pada it is in takes the sign of that pada in navamsa chart. And navamsa is considered to be the inner most, chart of Dharma. Which can mean that each pada defines how you deal with a certain planet on a deeper level. It's just Nakshtara and padas really help understand the deeper part of your chart. Which is why you hear some people say why they don't relate to a certain sign, it's all because of the nakshtara it's lord and the pada which is also called the navamsa, it is in.

Now your mercury in jyeshta in pada 1 means it's in scorpio in D1 and in sag in d9 chart. Jyeshta's ruler is mercury so mercury feels a little home here but since it's in scorpio, it's ruler mars isn't as friendly with mercury. Overall this would mean much interest in secretive stuff or occult. It being in sag pada could mean you could go on to study at a much higher level or just some subject in so much detail. Since 8th house is research maybe pursue research. I hope you are getting some idea.

Similarly for sun in anuradha pada 3 it lies in Libra in d9. So maybe you are deep down a very loving and creative person. Or as you age your creativity and Libra traits will be more prominent in you.

Pada signs are deep inside you. So each pada is just the finer placements of planets in your chart and as navamsa is the soul chart you could just take planet padas the soul of those planets in your chart .
