Qui-Gon: What do you think Plo is learning, Micah?
Micah: Probably something wise and important.
-Plo and Tyvokka’s chambers.-
Tyvokka: Alright, my Padawan, it is time to learn an important tactic. Are you ready?
Plo: *Nods enthusiastically.*
Tyvokka: Good. Now begin!
Plo: *Tries to flip a table, but he’s fairly small and not very strong.* ARRGH!!!
Tyvokka: *Internally while smiling.* This is going to take awhile.
Do you ever wonder if Tyvokka gave Plo table flipping lessons while others were hanging out? I mean when facing Aurra Sing, he casually flips and throws a table. In a comic Tyvokka flips a table. This can only lead to one logical conclusion. Tyvokka taught Plo the art of table flipping as battle tactic when negotiating doesn’t work. You can’t change my mind.
Summary: Tyvokka only had Plo as a Padawan for six or so months. He tries hard to understand his Master and is curious about his braids.
A/N: I was inspired by @luminioushope’s post on hair with the different Jedi. In it she said that Plo would probably have his talons tangled in Tyvokka’s fur. Tyvokka is known for having braids. This inspired me to write this. I hope you enjoy. Am I using this as an excuse to write Padawan Plo? Yes. Yes, I am.
It was quiet in their room as the Wookie Master say on the couch while working on reports. Plo finished putting away the dishes before sitting beside his Master. He glanced at the datapad for a while before his gaze travelled up to his Master’s dark brown fur.
‘It looks so soft,’ he thought, as he slowly reached to touch the hair. It was soft. He then felt one of the dangling braids from his Master’s head.
Kel Dor don’t have hair, so for those who lacked ability to grow hair were given the option of either ribbons, beads, tattoos or even piercings as their Padawan braid. Plo had a ribbon wrapped around his right wrist as his braid.
He was still curious of how a braiding works. He saw his two friends Micah and Qui-Gon sport their braids. Master Tyvokka has several around him and they seemed so beautiful…
‘I wonder…’ he thought, as he climbed up on the back of the couch. He then shuffled to sit behind his Master as he was hunched over the datapad.
“Shouldn’t be too hard, right?” He whispered, as he ran his talons over the long hair.
Slowly, he grabbed a bunch of fur and proceeded to twist it at the bottom over top of each other. The hair seemed to be braiding as he noticed it twisting right, but when he went to up, his talons got tangled in the brown fur.
“Uh oh…” he whispered, as he tugged to release his fingers.
Tyvokka grumbled softly, but did not turn. Plo tried to untangle his fingers, but he only seemed to get them more tangled. He pulled and twisted to release his fingers.
“Stupid, stupid, stupid!” He clickled angrily to himself. “I’m so stupid!”
Tyvokka felt more sharp pulling and harsh clicking coming from behind him. He sighed softly and set the datapad down on the table before leaning back.
<<Padawan, what are you doing?>> He asked, glancing over his shoulder only to make Plo nearly fall as his talons followed the movement.
His Padwan didn’t respond oly going still behind him. Tyvokka sighed through his nose, he knew his Padawan was shy at times.
<<Please tell me what it is you are trying to do, Plo.>> He coaxing him again.
“I, uh, wanted to braid your hair.” Plo said sheepishly, feeling him shuffling behind him.
Tyvokka sighed. <<By getting your claws tangled in my hair?>>
“Apologies, Master,” the young Kel Dor apologized. “I was simply curious. Your braids look beautiful and I wish to learn how they work.”
Tyvokka smiled. His young Padawan was curious and good natured, he knew. It was only understandable that he wanted know how Tyvokka braided his own fur. Plo took a while to learn Shyriiwook with a lot of it being self taught. This was another interest he wanted to understand him.
<<Come here, Plo...>> he said, patting to cushion next to him.
“Uh...I would, Master but...” Plo said, giving a gentle tug.
<<Of course.>>
Tyvokka summoned the commlink with the Force. He then put in another Jedi’s chain code.
-
<<Thank you, Master Dooku,>> said Tyvokka, as escorted the fellow Jedi Master to the door. <<I would’ve used my own, but my Padawan had me trapped to my seat.>>
He heard faint clicking from the couch, he paid no mind. Dooku didn’t seem to mind either from what he could tell.
“It was no trouble, Master Tyvokka, I always have my scissors on hand.” Dooku said, smiling. “Besides, Qui-Gon is always a handful as well. It explains why they always seem to find trouble together.”
<<Indeed they do.>> The Wookie agreed.
“Speaking of Padawans and trouble, I best be off to make sure mine hasn’t wrecked our living quarters since I’ve been gone.”
<<I shall leave you to it. I have a lesson to teach my Padawan in the art of hair braiding.>>
“Hopefully it will fair better this time. Goodbye, Master Tyvokka and Padawan Koon.” Dooku waved to the young Kel Dor on the couch.
“Thank you and goodbye, Master Dooku.” Plo said, waving back.
<<Goodbye, Master Dooku, and thank you again.>> Tyvokka said, as he shut the door.
He then turned and walked to his room. He rifled through his closet and pulled out a mannequin head. He then walked back to the living room and set the mannequin on the table.
Plo looked at it curiously, touching the artificial hair on the mannequin. It wasn’t as soft as his Master’s fur, it was more rough to touch. He frowned at it behind his mask. He then turned his gaze back to his Master tilting his head in question.
<<Seeing as you are adamant in learning how to braid, my young Padawan,>> said the Wookie, as he sat next to him. <<It would do better if I showed you. Maybe then it would involve less ripping of my furs.>>
“What if I get my fingers tangled, Master?” The boy asked, as he placed his hand in his lap.
<<You won’t have to worry, I will show you.>>
Tyvokka gently pushed the mannequin to Plo, encouragingly. Plo slowly brought up his hands as he glanced at the Wookie expectantly.
<<First you must grab three large strands of hair.>> he instructed calmly.
Plo did just as he was told with large strands of hair in his fingers. He paused waiting for the next step.
<<Then you take one which is the top strand then bring it under the middle strand and into the middle. Thus making it the new middle strand.>> he continues, as observers the young Padawan. <<Slowly, Plo.>>
Plo moves the top strand as instructed under and to the middle with his fingers shaking slightly as he did so.
<<Good, good…>> Tyvokka praised, as he point to the hair. <<See how the middle strand became the new top strand?>>
“Yes, Master.” Plo replied.
<<Now do the same with the bottom strand. Down and into the middle.>>
Plo did as he was told as he repeated the same actions. The middle strand that was formerly the too became the bottom strand while the bottom became the middle.
<<Now with the top strand, you shall take the hair next to it and place it down and to the middle.>>
Plo did as told by grabbing several strands near the top strand, nearly tangling his fingers a little and brought them down to the middle withe top strand.
<<Do the same with the bottom strands.>> His Master instructed.
They did this routine a little longer. Tyvokka watched calmly as Plo kept doing the actions, his fingers relaxed and moved in rhythm. Every once in and while his fingers would stumble, but Tyvokka unknotted them. His Padawan was happy to learn this new skill.
“You think I can try on you some time, Master?” He asked, as he kept his eyes on the mannequin.
<<Maybe with a little more practice, my Padawan, you might do mine.>>
