For her self Mandy Malas family migrated to  Spain from Turkey then to the states for asylum   when she was four. She was considered odd by classmates when she first came, her english being very little but she picked it up rather quickly. Wanting to blend in ratheR, through middle school and high school she was considered on of the cool kids. That didn’t stop her love of science; no matter how nerdy her other friends thought she was for doing so.

Meeting Randy wen she was excepted into Carnegie . Mandy thought it was funny that she and her boyfriend since freshman year had very similar-sounding names. Maybe it was part of her appeal to him. Mandy was a Science major and fell right away for Randy’s confident demeanor ( and it didn’t hurt that she found him very attractive). Her family however didn’t like the idea of Mandy dating him and thus told her to end things. When she refused; they cut her off refusing to help her continue to pay for school. She moved in with Randy that same day and had been by his side since.

In velia, she stuck close to him. Willing to go along with most plans that he had because she trusted him with her life. He protected her, watched out for her and with each day that passed her faith and trust in him grew. Meeting Syphon ( as unconventional as it was) happened to be a blessing. Mandy liked him and her heart went out to him ; she didn’t know exactly what had happened to him but knew that his situation had been the reason they chose him as a mark.

Drinking, partying, and the occasional threesome hadn’t changed her opinion and while Randy still wants to use him for his position in Blood Oath. Mandy can’t seem to look at Syphon in the same way after he save the love of her life. Now, making a genuine effort to become the man’s friend… despite what Randy thinks.

33 - Clouds

“That one looks like a rabbit.” 

“It looks like a blob.” 

“… Okay, Mr. Grumpy Gills, something’s up.” Cricket pushed herself up to look at her brother, brow raised and lips turned up in an amused smile. “You’ve been so distracted recently. And usually, you patronize my cloud time, so either you tell me what’s wrong, or I do some digging of my own.” Hades grimaced at her threat before averting his eyes back to the pre-programmed sky of Velia. 

He loved spending time with his sister, and she was right, usually he was in a better mood. They didn’t see each other often, and their time as brother and sister was scarce, so he tried to make the most out of it. 

Now though… 

“You have a crush.” 

She was too intuitive for her own damn good. His eyes snapped back to her’s, an identical cerulean blue that always seemed to unnerve him. “What makes you say that?” He demanded, earning a breathy laugh from Sawyer. She plopped back down beside him and waved a hand in vague explanation. 

“Women’s intuition.” 

“Bullshit.” 

“It’s true! So who is she? Or he? Or is it still Achilles?” She poked at his side, causing Hades to grumble in irritation, warmth blooming in his cheeks. He still harbored a crush for Achilles, his sister was right (not that he would ever admit it out loud), but this one… this one was a new one. 

His mind drifted to sun-kissed skin and caramel colored eyes. 

“You don’t know her…” He said quietly, and a smile tugged at his lips slightly at the thought of Padme, the way she smiled at him this morning, the way her hand brushed against his when they walked next to each other. He cleared his throat before dashing the thought away. “It’s nothing though… I just… It’s not like anything’ll happen.” He fiddled with his thumbs, blatantly ignoring the way Cricket was watching him with all too knowing eyes. 

They shared a pause before he felt his sister grasp at his hand. 

“You should introduce me sometime. I’d love to meet my future sister-in-law.” Hades shoved at her lightly, earning a laugh in reply as he shoved him back. 

“That one looks like a bird!” She yelled, pointing at another cloud passing by. 

Hades couldn’t help but smile. 

“Whatever you say, Sawyer.” He hoped to introduce them soon. Sawyer would like Padme.

She was, admittedly, insta-stalking several people she used to know, including looking back at her ex-husband and brother’s old photos, looking at some of the ones they had posted together pre-Velia. The library wasn’t a private place, but it was rare to be there at the same time as someone you knew. The more time spent in Velia, the less people actually came to the floor, but Kitty always found it calming. Being able to check in on people gave her a reminder for why she even gave a damn, the quiet the floor provided was a good place to let her creativity roam wild before she blasted Gaga in the Circus HQ. 

She sat alone at one of the long tables, switching between aimlessly scrolling and doodling in her book. Without hearing the other person walk in or approach, the hand on the table in front of her startled her. Following the hand up, an annoyed sigh left her, “I’ve already spoken to Achilles and Radish. So whatever you’re going to say, trust me I’ve heard it before.”

he had been staring at the sky, switching between watching the clouds and watching his eyelids when he got dizzy. he was flat on his back, one leg straight out, the other bent in at the knee, but his hands were pressed palms to the floor to ground him. cam was so beyond drunk. he had gone to some bar in nova and figured he should leave when he finally had trouble standing. how he managed to get here, he wasn’t sure, but he appreciated the fact that it was quiet, mostly empty, and not moving. 

there was movement out of the corner of his eye that made him turn to look at it, seeing the feet first then following up the persons body. a wide smile spread across his face, “oh hey,” cam tried to sit up but the room decided to spin so he stayed down and settling for pointing somewhere above his shoulder, “i think there’s a blanket up there? so you don’t gotta sit in the grass.”

“You could say that,” she replied with a small smile as Padme sat beside her. Honestly she wasn’t sure if she was staying just yet, but she didn’t think too much on it. She didn’t have time for anything heavy right now. All she wanted was to pay a little homage to the Beetles and enjoy a duet with a friend. That wasn’t too much to ask for, was it?

She didn’t think so. As Cricket continued playing, Padme joined in and her grin grew. It made it a little harder to sing, but it was worth it as they finished. “Thanks. I loved playing before Velia. I was super lucky to have found something so similar. I mean-- I love the flute too, but even in game, woodwinds get exhausting,” Cricket said with a soft chuckle. “You’ve been holding out on me. I knew you were a great dancer but you didn’t tell me you could sing...”

That time Rowan and Jude went camping…

“ Rowan, quickly come,” Jude called to him, getting Rowan’s attention right away. The last thing he needed was his second attempt at a date to go wrong too. They had gone to floor  52 for dinner, they ended up in the back of the restaurant near the kitchen. The food wasn’t that great the service was lousy and he had soup spilled on him and went home smelling like french onion.

It was horrible and he promised himself he would do things differently.

He had put to much pressure on himself, wanting to make the night perfect. So instead, he decided to do something that they would both enjoy. Jude loved the outdoors as much as Achilles did. It had taken him a couple of days to set up their camping grounds. Thanks to Luna, Jude beamed in delight at their little bungalow on floor 37. So far so good, at least he hoped so anyway.

Rowan approached Jude looking up at the sky as she did. It was pitch black now but the pixelated stars have shown brightly against the dark backdrop. Coming to stand behind her, he snaked his arms around her waist planting a kiss on her cheek as he looked up at the sky once more. “ What happened?” he said looking down at her, greeted by a look or disappointment.

“ I saw two shooting stars and- there!” pointing excitedly. “ Quick you can make a wish on it.” she urged but Rowan just shook his head. Leaning down his lips met hers, kissing her deeply. Slow and deliberate; taking his time so that it was clear how much she was loved by him before he reluctantly pulled away from her. He spoke in their mother tongue … “ Don’t need to love. I got my wish already.”

knuckles rap lightly on the door with one hand, the other holding an opened bottle of wine. she had given herself about two drinks of a head start before discovering she wasn’t in the mood to drink alone. the day had been long and she was exhausted from wasting her spells on reckless idiots and dealing with (and correcting) the consequences of their stupid actions. she needed a drink. or three, as it turned out. “i brought wine,” she called softly through the door. “it’s not great, but i need a drink, want to join?”
