At first, she said nothing. She just stood there, quaking a little. And then, Maddie made a sound like–well, like if happiness were itself a living thing, and this was its mating call to summon some other happiness in order to mate in the hopes of spawning /even more happiness/. She wasn't sure she'd heard herself /squee/ before, but these days, given everything, she was embracing as much joy as she could muster.

{[SING]: [The Song of Newborn Beasts]}
As the pressure mounts, your fear suddenly reaches a fever pitch. Something primal triggers within you. A memory perhaps? No, it’s not your memory, it’s a memory of someone else.
You can feel something something locked deep away inside an unknown mind. A memory of fear being chased away by a simple song.
You can’t sign very well but you do your best to hum along to the melody in your heads.
Take my hand/Look up at the sky My little one/It’s ok to cry
Take my hand/Born to ancient stars Wash away your faded scars
Take my hand/Hear our melody Sing with me/O’ sing with me
It almost sounds like a lullaby, you don’t know how you know what to sing but it just comes to you.
To your surprise, the [Rot Ice Horror] kneels, a stream of tears coming from the slats on its forehead. You made it cry?
The song seems to have distracted the beast. You are not sure what significance the song holds but you have bought yourself a few more seconds.
{You have ??? Actions left before the power runs out, sealing you and your team inside the vault.}

I can have a normal life. With wings. And a tail. And vampires. And magicians. And a boy in my arms, instead of a girl. And a happy ending--even if it isn't the ending I ever would have dreamt for myself, or hoped for. A chance.

There are a few things that could be tripping you up here:
You’re not familiar with function notation. Remember that P(4) ≠ 4 × P.
You’re not using parentheses when you enter the correct expressions into your calculator.
You got overexcited and picked (A), which is P(4) or (E), which is P(16).
You thought you could say P(16) - P(4) = P(12), which is not true. But of course, because the SAT is tricky like this, P(12) is answer choice (B).
Here’s how the math should go:
