thank you for writing in. at the top of this post i would like to clarify that pahrsi was made by my good friend rye beans, so i cannot at all take credit for her. ariane is my girl though. i would love to blend her. she sucks.
to answer your question, i think it is because they are both completely fucking insane. the dialogue in question is one i picked because i think it's wild out of context, but it stays equally insane in context? this exchange happens maybe two hours after they've met, after pahrsi has stitched up a particularly icky wound ariane has in the back of her leg (obtained from other yuri. thats a story for a different post though). they literally met at a casino and pahrsi talked ariane into taking her back to her place to stitch her up. as a complete stranger. because she thought it would be fun. i need to send her to the shredder.
the whole reason they find themselves drawn to each other in the first place is because they both have girlfriends that they have kind of rocky relationships with, and they remind each other of those girlfriends. it's kind of a weird rebound situation except if they never did anything explicitly romantic and instead just kind of danced around the fact that they're obviously attracted to each other for like two entire years. they make me fucking crazy.
oh and every exchange they have is equally insane. they always talk like this. im struggling to pick my favourite one to add at the end here because all of it is really really good. i think this one is a classic; this is barely a third of the conversation these two have about ariane's potential to kill pahrsi.
In the past year or so I have developed a very intense enjoyment of riichi mahjong and since I wanted to make some fun fantrolls for my current main interest, vast error, I had an epiphany.
So here's Pahrsi Tucipi, my troll inspired by riichi mahjong!
I am now going to ramble on the design/character choices so here we go if you're interested/one of my friends:
Okay so I wanted to represent every one of the tiles/groups of tiles at least in some way shape or form, so the easiest way to do this to start off with the 3 different suits in riichi mahjong.
Each of the suits have their own outfit associated with it. There's not much of a rationale for what the function of each outfit is other than the bamboo outfit being her main outfit due to her blood color being green and her having an overall major connection to the green dragon tile, which has a special hand with the bamboo suit, so it felt fitting. That and her general vibe without getting too deep into her character feels better represented by that outfit.
For the casual/characters outfit, I really didn't know what to do with the characters other than to make 2 different patterns for a top and bottom to reflect the positioning of the characters on the tiles. Nothing too deep. The jacket is just there for added comfort/fun and I wanted to get more of her blood color onto the outfit. This is the only outfit that has any semblance of her actual sigil incorporated into it and she is not wearing her usual sunglasses to hide her eyes because it's for more personal comfortable wear and not for important public appearances.
Then there's the pins outfit which well. Idk it's just a fun little dress and boa. It felt kind of lazy just going the pattern route for this outfit also but I didn't have very many ideas like I'm ironically getting just now while writing this, and also I don't want to make any of the designs like suuuper complicated so I like it just fine. If you see the Yeshin Laevis influence no you don't. I'm normal.
So that's all the suits, then there's the matter of the winds and dragons. One of which has a very simple cop out called I made her a breath player because I didn't want to deal with figuring how else to incorporate the wind tiles, and I would not have really known what direction to take her character if I didn't just give her an aspect. The class came much later and is a very evil choice for the themes of it all but that's a story for a different time.
The dragons are all incorporated in different ways. The red dragon is the shape for her horns, the green dragon is where her blood color comes from and is also associated with her being used as a fake sigil for anonymity's sake. The white dragon is definitely way easier to miss because it's in her eyes, which is a product of her being blind. It's kind of hard to incorporate the white dragon through anything but color due to it being blank, but I tried. That being said, all of the colors of the dragons are incorporated in each outfit with the exception of the bamboo outfit only having an off-white color, but it's close enough. This is partially because with her green dragon colored blood and the red color in the mahjong set (at least the one I used as reference while doing this) is in every suit, and the tiles are all the same white color so its easy to incorporate that in somewhere.
As a slight intermission from explaining all the mahjong stuff the red (at least the darker one that you see appear a bit more subtly than the lighter shade) is part of the good old fun (and frankly, intense emotions inducing) Repitonian trend (at least with a good portion of sbb sprites, so I'm pretending that's just the norm even if it isn't) of having a little bit of your quadrants' colors incorporated somewhere in your outfit. She has a husband (/lesbian) that will someday also be released into the world that is based on darts and I still don't know what quadrant they are rocking together but they probably don't either to be fair.
Speaking of relationships, that's a good segue into the last bit of mahjong moments that are more miscellaneous than all of the tile types.
I thought it would be fun to do something with the hand called thirteen orphans, and initially I was going to do this by trying to pass off her blood shade as jade but then I was like well maybe it's more fun to have her mistaken as a jade/desperately wishing she was a jade and trying to fill that desire by taking care of children in her own manner. So there are 13 trolls that she has under her care. She is not truly a mother figure for most of them but rather she has given these trolls (that are usually a good bit of sweeps younger than her) who were at rock bottom a stable place to stay unconditionally to support them in finding their footing in the harsh capitalist society of Repiton.
Two of these 13 trolls, also the youngest of the bunch, accompany her everywhere. One of them, Chaine, is the intended heir of the fashion company Pahrsi is no longer focused on running and the other, Marino, is the baby of the bunch and is with her so that he is not without supervision and also because he assists her with daily tasks and movement due to her disability. She refers to them as her interns officially and it is imperative that they receive the same respect that she does while out doing #shadygirlbusiness. These little guys are ocs of my friends @sesmifi and @snzical and they also have very cool little themes to them but that is their fun bits of info to share if they so desire.
The last little bit of miscellaneous mahjong, other than the all greens hand related to the bamboo outfit that I mentioned is just simply Pahrsi's namesake which is just: I took riichi ippatsu and made it an anagram. That's literally it lol. I took out one of the is because there's 13 letters there and even without that there's 3 is so, easiest one to take away. I definitely could've used some other term like daburu riichi which is the perfect amount of letters but I like what I have. I love to name with anagrams and just play around until it sounds/looks nice.
But yeah, I think that's about everything without getting tooooo deep into the complexities of her character or hidden lore things that would be "spoilers" if she was a major character in a popular media or something so I'm going to pretend like I have to keep it all a secret.
