My little canvas covered notebook. I love book binding and went through a phase a few years ago where I tried so many different forms of book binding. Ive been wanting to make some painted canvas books for a while now. Looking forward to making more and sharing the process with you all! . . . #bookbinding #canvasbookbinding #paintedjournal #handmadejournal #watercolour #makemoreart #createeveryday #winterandthemoon #artwitch https://www.instagram.com/p/CRatMztD8Om/?utm_medium=tumblr

Follower Rec #12: The Brothers Bloom
recommended by paintedjournal
The Brothers Bloom are the best con men in the world, swindling millionaires with complex scenarios of lust and intrigue. Now they've decided to take on one last job - showing a beautiful and eccentric heiress the time of her life with a romantic adventure that takes them around the world.
"The perfect con is one where everyone involved gets just what they wanted," or so this movie tells us.
That's what sets this apart from other quirky con films. The goal isn't just to take the money. The goal is the take the mark on an adventure that's so fulfilling and romantic that they don't mind handing over their money to The Brothers Bloom.
And just like that, we (the audience) become the mark. We know they're pulling a con, but the line between honesty and dishonesty begins to blur and by the end, we don't really care what's real or not real. It's the getting there that's the fun part.
The casting for this film was perfect. Who don't we root for? We root for the con artists, we root for the marks. We root for older brother Stephen, and younger brother Bloom. We want everyone involved to get what they want.
And in the end THEY DO (don't you just love when everything comes full circle?).
The casting for this movie was sheer perfection. Mark Ruffalo with his shit-eating grin, Adrien Brody who pulls THE saddest faces I've ever seen in my life, and Rachel Weisz who is actually believable as someone who is as socially inept as she is beautiful (hard to pull off, tbh).
And special shout out to Rinko Kikuchi as Bang Bang, who proves you can be the comedic backbone of the cast without having any lines whatsoever.
The bottom line is that this is a quirky con film, only it's not like other con films and it's not quirky in a way that makes you want to puke. The cinematography is beautiful, the acting is lovely, and you never know what's waiting around the corner. It's an adventure story that completely serves its purpose.
