Remade a painting to see how far I've improved. Quite happy with it.
I haven't written on here for a long time...

Often, yet ever so frustrating.
Ok so for a week now I have been seriously art blocked, as I did not have the will to touch a sketchbook or drawing tablet during this period.
As an artist this problem comes with the job, where every few months or so, the creative side of the brain decides to go into a coma for a while, for no apparent reason. Why does it happen? How can I prevent it? I always ask myself these questions whenever it happens to me (which has been way too often recently), yet I could never come up with a clear definitive answer. It is one of those mysteries that have baffled humanity for centuries.
Ok that mighthave been an exaggeration on my part there, however I think I got my point across. A possible answer might be that there is no one definitive cause, but a mix of causes which results in it. This explanation has been on my mind for a while as I have started, since my last artblock to see a trend. Every time I have had one recently, it was immediately after a painting which was very close to me personally, e.g. my latest painting Alpha, which was also a painting that had me explore or experiment a new technique. These two factors in my opinion, are taxing on the mind, especially for me as I am also heavily burdened by studying #studentlife #enditalready . Therefore my mind hypothetically would need a resting period in order to get "the juices flowing" as they say.
Identifying a cause is always the first step for a cure, and now I'll have to be content with my answer for the moment, until I hopefully stumble upon a cure, or prevention. If that is even possible. For now I leave you with this post's song reccomendation "suck the blood from my wound" by Ezra Furman.
