I idealized the original face and changed the colours and shapes. The reference really helped guide the painting.

I find it very helpful to study real faces and then build on it and make my own characters.. 

This painting was started some days ago and I picked it up again today and finished it. 

When I start I think about the general structure of the painting and when I have most of it done I add the details that make it really my own.
