Among the clouds she shines as the silver sun, weaving garments from her threads to produce shimmering clothes. In a compiling of folklore called the Kalevala the sun and moon were formed from a bird's egg cracking, the yolk becoming the sun. By one runic song she is said to produce tears with her opposite, Kuutar, which became the Great Oak tree. She is also called Auringotar and, with this name, is said to have given birth to fire (the god Panu). Along with Kuutar, the moon goddess, she is a goddess prayed to for protection against her children, wasps. In later Christianization she became equated with the Virgin Mary.

Hello dearests, how have you been? Good I hope. Well, let’s get into it, shall we? My name is Päivätär, but friends call me Pai. I am a Finnish deity, forced to live in the hell hole humans call the United States.
About Me
In the Finnish tradition, I’m known as the spirit of the sun. I’m a creator at heart, give me a silver thread and a quiet afternoon, and I’m at my happiest.
Heart & Soul
I am happily engaged to the most radiant soul in the night sky, Kuutar, goddess of the moon. We may rule different halves of the day, but we are perfectly in sync. Expect to see plenty of posts dedicated to my favorite lunar lady.
Current Hyperfixations
When I’m not busy weaving the rays of the morning, you can find me working on my latest fiber arts projects. My hands are rarely still:
Sewing: I specialize in delicate gold-and-silver-thread embroidery and shimmering garments.
Movies: while potentially not what you’d expect of me, I love film. The lights, costumes and sound are all so mesmerizing, it is by far my favorite human invention
Seeking Connections
I’m looking to fill my feed with more divine energy! I’d love to find some deity mutuals (from any pantheon or path) to chat with, share art, and discuss the nuances of managing cosmic cycles.

Favorite Tool: My golden embroidery hoop. Kuutar made it for me.
