“I don’t think it will last too long,” Kabu replied. He was currently under a tree to protect himself from the rain that was falling.

“I think right now it will last for another half an hour, but I’m not sure. The Wild Area can get very random with the weather at times, especially with all the different habitats. What’s your name, by the way? My name is Kabu.”

Turning a bunch of students loose on the region with only 'find something to make you happy' as an instruction really didn't seem all that fair, in Max's eye.

But at least he could challenge the gyms. He'd been itching to do that since he'd started learning about Paldea's gym challenge, and them not having one single champion, but multiple. Sure, it wouldn't be the same as Hoenn, but it was better than nothing, in his eyes.

The only problem now, was actually choosing a direction to go in. If he didn't need to have a certain number of badges to face one gym leader, he planned to go in an easy order around Paldea... which, looking at the map, seemed impossible.

"How are you supposed to decide where to go?" he groaned, the map open in front of him. "Which gym is even the easiest to get to from here?"

It wasn't supposed to be like this. A training session gone wrong, a trip to the East Area that would usually be so typical now a complete nightmare. Gerald found himself and his young student hiding out in the mouth of one of the area's many mining shafts. Strange and fantastical creatures - no, he couldn't quite call them Pokémon - had suddenly sprung on them, aggressive and otherworldly, forcing the mentor and mentee to flee. Relics of the past, advancements of the future... What were they?

In all honesty, Gerald was terrified. But for the sake of Kai he buried any sense or sensation of fear deep down within him, and only the impenetrable front of a sternly fearless tutor protecting his student remained. Dusk Ball in hand, he peeked outside the cavern, attempting to plot an escape route. At the very least, he'd make sure his student escaped safely.

"...How irritating. The League will certainly be hearing about this mess from me."

Cowering in the mouth of a cave wasn't exactly one of her finest moments, but the titans rampaging didn't make things easier. "You seem rather comfortable around these things, Kai, what do you know that I don't?"

[ DECEIVE ] : sender tells a lie in order to protect the receiver. (the lie can be directed to a potential enemy (e.g. "they went that way" "i'll take them") or to the receiver themselves.

"That's my sister, she said leave her alone."

What in the world was Kai doing? How in the world was he so tuned into the conversation that he realized how the man across from her was making her uncomfortable?

Questions could wait- She opted to play along for now. "How'd you even find me? Thought mom understood I could fend for myself." She smirks, only for the strange man to finally give up on his pursuit and walk off into Medali.

"Thanks, kiddo... lemme treat you to a meal, eh? I came here looking for Larry, but found trouble and you instead it seems."

"Don't EVER let me catch you harassing anyone else-!!" She barks at the aggressors as they bolt off and away from her, shaking her fist out a few times before shoving it back in her pocket, then turning back to Kai with a worried look on her face, an almost complete heel turn from the vicious countenance she held only a moment before.

"Are you alright? They didn't hurt you too bad, I hope?" She frowns, moving quickly to his side to give him a once over.
