Karkat would never admit under pain of death that the reason he lectured you about your unknowing pale-solicitations was because of HIS pale crush on you. He knew you didn’t understand quadrant and he pitied/wanted to help you.

Also he mayyy have been lowkey jealous.

And now that you have been trying to be very conscious of your behavior, keeping perhaps further a distance than strictly necessarily. Karkat worries he may have just sabotaged himself in his attempts to get into your pale quadrant.

Karkat internally goes back and forth about whether to admit his feelings to you or not, and if he did, how? This goes on for quite a while, actually.

He honestly doesn’t even make a decision; it just sort of… blunders out of him one day while he’s talking to you. He was just ranting to you about some gaping plot-hole in some troll rom-com he watched and it just sort of… happened.

You were confused when you heard Karkat, the troll who     got on your case about pale flirting with everyone, who said “at least half of the trolls around here look about ready to invite you to their respective piles for a fucking feelings jam! This is very much NOT okay!”.

It just really did not make sense to you, but remembering what he had said that day caused a thought to cross your mind.

This was some kind of test. A test to see what you would do if one of the trolls you accidentally flirted with wanted to become ‘official’ with you. Well, you were going to show the loud troll that you knew more of what you were doing now!

So you turned him down as gently as you could, writing the script in your head as you went, even throwing a ‘I’m sorry if my behavior made you think that I was into you like that, it wasn’t my intention.’ For good measure.

Karkat shut his eyes tightly and gritted his teeth when you gave your response. Of course. Of course this would happen to him. He muttered some excuse and left, barely making it to his room before he broke down into a vicious cycle of frustration and self-deprecation.

You were talking with Terezi, she was going on about some mock-trial she was planning to do while you put out some ideas every so often and smiled happily as you moved closer to point out some inconsistencies in her ‘evidence‘ list.

It wasn’t long after that when you noticed one of your other friends, Karkat, staring at you and looking more annoyed than usual. “Hey, I need to talk to you about something.“ You could tell he was making a conscious effort to speak at a reasonable volume. You excused yourself from the tealblood, and confusedly followed the mutant down away from the others. By the time the two of you stopped walking, you realized you were probably at least a couple minutes out of anyone’s hearing range.

“Look.“ Karkat starts. “I know you’re a human and all, and I know you aren’t used to quadrants, but can you stop pale-flirting with everything that moves?!“ He hissed through clenched fangs, sounding almost like an embarrassed parent giving their child ‘the talk‘.

“Pale... flirting? I was just being friendly.“ You were admittedly confused about where exactly the line was drawn between ‘friendly‘ and ‘pale‘, but you didn’t think you were that bad.

Karkat raises a hand to his face and screw his eyes shut, attempting to keep himself calm and alleviate the oncoming headache that was explaining this to you. “Cuddling up to someone while helping them figure stuff out isn’t just ‘friendly’. Seriously, at least half of the trolls around here look about ready to invite you to their respective piles for a fucking feelings jam! This is very much NOT okay!“

He finally turns to look at you for the first time since you both stopped walking, his face stained with his blood color, though you couldn’t tell if it was from anger or embarrassment.

“You’ve been leading them on for weeks, and watching this gog damn train-wreck is driving me insane! Either fucking pick someone, or explain to them that you didn’t mean it!“

You didn’t realize your actions had been taken this way, but it seems you have some apologizing to do now... You make a mental note to remind yourself to be more careful in the future.

Pitch

Believe it or not, the one who starts most of the fights between them Is Karkat, often by insulting Eridan’s choices of entertainment when they go on hate-dates.

Eridan’s genocidal tendencies seem to calm down after he got a proper kismesis, finally having someone to direct the violence at seemed to help.

Likewise, Karkat’s patience seemed to increase from the arrangement as well, but it took a little bit for him to be okay with showing off all the scratches and bitemarks.

Pale

As a pale bonding activity, Eridan starts teaching Karkat how to swim! Or at least he will, once he can get the mutant troll to stop hanging on to him in even ankle-deep waters…

These two spend so much time on their pile together, it is sometimes a wonder they get anything done. Half the time, they don’t even say anything on the pile, just taking comfort in each other’s presence.

No one knows who shoosh-paps who the most in their relationship. In fact, no one outside for the two are even sure how they manage to work so well, with both of them being as they are.

Flushed

Movie-nights is the go-to date for these two! At least once a week they sit down and go through so many snacks it’s a wonder there is every any left for everyone else.

More than once have they stumbled out of one of their respiteblocks in each other’s clothes and not noticed until someone else points it out to them. Some think they do this on purpose.

Eridan loves to show off his matesprit to anyone around, while Karkat tends to keep their relationship on the down-low, but he doesn’t seem to mind wearing some of the amethyst jewelry Eridan had given him on their anniversary.

Ashen

The first time Karkat had to auspistize for Eridan and Sollux, he mostly just yelled at them until they got so bored they walked away from each other.

When Eridan has to auspistize for Karkat, the first thing he usually does is send the mutant and whoever he was fighting with to opposite corners of the room, almost as if they were wrigglers.

Dave once wrote a rap about the back-and-forth auspistizim between the two. Both of them always seemed annoyed by it, but each of them secretly keeps a recording of the rap in their respiteblocks, and would fervently deny it if it was ever brought up.

head!canons for how ED reacts whenever reader is sad??? (Can be any quadrants you prefer)!

I am going to give you at least one for each quadrant, and one for no quadrant.

If you are his matesprit, he will drag you to the nearest acceptable surface to cuddle and press kisses all over your face. If you want food or a blanket, just ask and you shall receive.

If you are his moirail, it’s right to the pile for the both of you! He will spend as much time with you cuddling and talking it out until you start to feel better.

If you are his kismesis he might try to goad you into being angry at him rather than be sad.

As his kismesis, If he maybe had gone too far, you might find a small gift at your door, and you might have seen a flash of purple fleeing the scene out of the corner of your eye, but if you confront him about it later, he will insist it isn’t from him, and how dare you insinuate such.

If he is your auspistice, he wouldn’t approach you about it, but suddenly the other leaf of your ashen whom you would fight with isn’t around until you cheer up again.

If you two aren’t in any quadrant but are good friends, (And if both of you don’t have a moirail) he will let you vent to him about whatever is making you sad in a sort of pale one-night-stand type thing.

Can we have some headcanons for what it would be like being Eridan Ampora's moirail?

Oh boy, you have your work cut out for you. Prepare to have a lot of your time taken up by your pale quadrant, ‘cause Eridan may be a little clingy sometimes.

He may be stubborn at first, resisting your attempts at a feels jam or shoosh-papping, but don’t give up on him.

Speaking of shoosh-papping, he will probably be the one that needs it the most, and if he needs to shoosh-pap you he may be a little awkward about it.

Unless you are deaf, you WILL pick up some bits of history and strategy from listening to Eridan talking about them so much.

Eridan may be the needier one, but that doesn’t mean he’ll neglect you. While he can’t express his platonic affection as clearly as he would like to in words, he will give you lots of expensive gifts he thinks you’ll like.

Platonic cuddles with Eridan may be hard to figure out at first, since he is rather boney with some sharp angles.

Once you do figure out something, he will be all over the idea of cuddles, no matter where you are or who is around. He wants to show off his wonderful moirail, dammit.

When Eridan isn’t around, other trolls may come up and ask if you two are actually moirails, and if the relationship is a healthy one. Most of them don’t mean any harm by it.

“Kar, let go a’ me, the wwater’s not goin’ to bite you or nothin’.“ The violet-blood sighed as he tried to pry his moirail off from hanging on to him like some sort of frightened meowbeast, with the mutant troll using his hold to avoid even touching the knee-deep water.

“I know that!“ Karkat snapped, clinging tighter as the seadweller waded the both of them into deeper waters. “B-But I can’t breath that stuff like you can! I’ll sink, or something will drag me under, or… or…“ The smaller troll tried to climb higher when the waves began to lap at the bottoms of his feet, his thinkpan nearly stuttering to a halt from fear. “A-And it’ll be your fault!“

“I wwont let that happen, Kar, I already cleared this spot a’ anythin’ that might hurt you. Come on, just givve it a chance… For me?“ Eridan gave his moirail the best wriggler barkbeast eyes as he could given the awkward angle, and rubbed the mutant’s back reassuringly. It seemed to have worked somewhat, since Karkat reluctantly loosened his grip and very slowly allowed himself to sink part-way into the water. “It’s not that deep, you could stand up in it.“ The seadweller encouraged, hovering his hands around Karkat in case the other started to freak out again.

It took nearly a solid five minutes to get the mutant standing in the water on his own while the waves soaked him from the grubscars down, and another ten to convince him to move from his spot. But eventually, Eridan had managed to get him relatively comfortable walking around in the water, getting him to do so for nearly half an hour before they both decided it was enough and got out to dry off.

“You did pretty wwell, considerin’ you’re a landdwweller an’ all.“ The taller remarked in a teasing manner as they sat together on the shoreline, waiting for the last drops of water on them to dry. “Maybe next time wwe’ll actually get your feet off a’ ground.“ Eridan pulled his moirail close into a half-hug, nearly missing when the other mumbled a ‘not fucking likely‘ into his shoulder.
