I drew a My Pretty Conan. I definitely went extra with the shading, I'm glad much of it shows up here, but it looks even better in person haha. Used a combination of makers and pencils.

So this is a reference to a bit from Late Night with Conan where Jim Gaffigan shown "ads" for a line of Pale Force toys, the standard action figures, and also a My Pretty Conan styling head doll. I had a lot of fun making this art. And it's the 2000's, of course I had to add butterfly hair clips (though I guess they'd be somewhat out of style by mid-late 2000's when Pale Force was out, but too bad, I love butterfly clips so I'm adding it here, deal with it losers!)

So it seems Conan O'Brien got a boost in popularity from his appearance on Hot Ones, so here's a drawing I just finished of Pale Force. For those of you who don't know, or perhaps don't remember, Pale Force was a cartoon created by Jim Gaffigan where he and Conan are superheroes. Their powers were being so pale, they'd be reflective and blind bad guys, and also for the lolz, shot lasers out of their nipples too. Jim would show these episodes from 2005-2008 when he guested on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, he voiced all the characters, and portrayed Conan in an unflattering matter, basically just to troll him on his own show (though in my opinion, cartoon Coco ended up being cute, even if unintentional haha). And yes, this show was definitely as weird as I described it, and probably more, lol. If you're curious, the episodes are uploaded on Jim's YouTube page. Kinda wish this show was more popular (though some of the old Late Show clips implied it was pretty popular at the time, idk).

(also the printer ruined the shading I did with the background, the sky behind the buildings was a pleasant light blue, idk what's the printer's issue with pencil shading, I didn't need the sky pale too!)

After a replacement and a departure, the band are now a three-piece of Mark Huckridge (electronics, guitar, keyboards), Liam Edwards (drums) and Brad Whyte (guitar, noise). Tucked away from anything resembling the music industry, their hometown of Wrexham somehow seems emblematic of the band’s desire to do things on their own terms and operate in their own world. "We enjoy the isolation from any sort of scene.” They say, “It means we can just get on with things and not worry about fitting into anything. It's a very working class town too, which keeps our feet on the ground and gives us a good work ethic.” Sonically the record matches the band member’s fuller sense of scope and vision; the sputtering electronics, and often-elongated guitar wails, recall the dystopian visions as depicted in the finest 1980s horror and sci-fi films. There are moments of soaring post-rock, humming dark ambience, esoteric offshoots, bubbling electronics and even the odd gargle of industrial-tinged noise. Huckridge moved next to a car park in which the throbbing sub-bass of boy racers has helped inform the rhythmic ideas for the record. And when the writing process begun the band were drummer-less and thus all the drum parts were written by non-drummers."This is very much Gallops MKII. We intend to keep pushing things further and we are already writing ideas for our next record.”

Others were fans of 'Pale Force,' the series of animated shorts he created for 'Late Night With Conan O’Brien' about two superheroes — one a brawnier-than-in-real-life representation of Mr. Gaffigan, the other a shriveled, effeminate Mr. O’Brien — who blind evildoers with their whiteness.
