The first 3 pretty much stablished to me what a good Mario Party game should have, like I loved the boards on the second one, but I liked the minigames of the third one better. And one thing cool that Mario Party 2 introduced besides the costumes were the day and night cycle that changed things up a bit. Mario Party 6 took that to the next level and mixed things up even more, not only all stages have the day/night cycle but they each have their unique set of rules.
For example there’s one stage that DK has the star and he moves around like a normal player every turn, when the board shifts to night, Bowser takes DK place and whoever passes through him loses 20 coins. Another stage has every player start off with 5 stars and the only way to get more stars is to steal it from another player! The other stages are more tame but they’re all still pretty unique. The minigames are also really fun.
Idk it just combined everything I liked about the originals and made it better. The only ones I haven’t played were 4, 7 and 10 but I guess we can both agree that things were going downhill after 8 Sorry I had to chop my answers to 3 parts :c
Great points! True, the DK/Bowser feature did mix things up by incorporating that day and night cycle. I can certainly see the appeal with how it blends in aspects from previous things. My reason for preferring the older Mario Party games is due to how unique the first 3 were, even when side-by-side. Partially. I’m bias from growing up with it, haha. But I do wonder if MP 6 would have been my choice had that one sprung on me as a child? Nonetheless! Thank you for your input! All of the Mario Party games have their own merits. (…Ignoring anything after 8)
