Fall Road Trip

“I didn’t expect a road trip.” Alex glanced out the window once more, trying not to stare like some doe-eyed tourist. Even so, she’d never seen trees--not really. Not like this. In pictures and movies and books, even in a lobby, once. But never like this. Never unrestrained and wild. “I thought you said we were going to get apple cider. This... seems a long way to go for some cider.”
Bruce had been hoping Alex would like this surprise, she had just gotten herself ready for the outside world. Why not do it big the first time out. “We are, but I figure if we are going to do it, we should do it right. There’s a beautiful state park I want to show you. Outside of that park is a little town with a big orchard and market. If you want we can get pumpkins to carve too.”
Pepper had voiced concern about Alex going out, and all the various issues that could cause. But Bruce had faith that this girl could handle anything that was thrown at her. And he would be there as a back up.
