Epicycloma sarahae
A very special paleorelic pill milipede. Restricted to the litter layer in long unburnt pockets of vegetation on coastal facing massive granite outcrops in Cape Le Grande and Mt Arid in south east of Western Australia.
Pill milipedes are normally found in tropical or temperate rainforest and it's quite special for this critter to survive in an area that has such low rainfall, with long hot dry summers. It's somehow managed to find unique niches in which it can thrive.
It's threats include climate change and improper fire regimes, fire is it's greatest threat as they require moist deep litter which can take many years to develop.
