#SimsbyNight – Episode 20 (Part I): "Double Trouble at the Asylum"
← PREVIOUS | TABLE OF CONTENTS| BEGINNING | NEXT →
The coterie steps into the Asylum. A familiar voice slices through the bass:
"Oooh, what do we have here? Another scrumptious young plaything straight out of life and into my club? Mmm... you smell new, little boy/girl, like fabric softener dew on freshly mowed Astroturf. Oh, I'm not frightening you, am I, duckling?"
"Ooh! Let me answer that! I know the answer! Ahem, Greetings, daughter of Janus."
"This is the line of the Malkavian PC. Are you a Malkavian, Rebecca?"
"You’re no fun, Leslie. Fine:"
"Frightening isn't the word I'd use... exciting is more like it."
"I can tell you and I are going to get along just like fire hoses."
"Firehoses?"
"When we get turned on, there's bound to be flames."
"That's what I was thinking. What's your name?"
"I'm the finger down your spine when all the lights are out. I'm the name on all the men's room walls. When I pout, the whole world tries to make me smile. And everyone always wants to know, who... is... that girl?"
"Aren’t you the tease? Got a name I can remember you by?"
"I... am... Jeanette. And this bit of chaos crammed in a certifiable giggle is my club. Oh, I'd just love to give you funny feelings all night, sweetheart, but I really must trouble with some business. We'll reunite sweet and soon, I promise."
"Soon can’t come soon enough. Goodbye."
"Was that flirting or a minor possession?"
"Both."
"Let's go upstairs and talk to Therese."
"Let's go, apparently Cal took the day off and we won't be able to talk to him."
The coterie enters the sleek upstairs office. A more composed, commanding voice greets them:
"Therese Voerman. I'm the proprietor of this club, and the only person in this neighborhood whose good side it's in your best interest to stay on. What brings you to Llama Lagoon?"
"We’re here to deliver this."
"An invitation to dance with Camarilla politics... intriguing."
"Finally, a line that doesn’t come from the game."
"Let’s just say I’m the creative twin, unlike many people say."
"I’d be delighted to attend. But first, you'll have to help me acquire a particularly powerful item I'm looking to study."
"And what exactly are you after?"
"The Necklace of the Pale Queen. It’s currently being held at the Paranormal Museum in Copperdale. Bring it to me, and I’ll be more than happy to come to your soirée—with my associates."
"Let me guess: it’s cursed."
"Oh, darling. Isn’t everything?"
Next Episode: "The Pale Queen's Wrath & Jeanette's Kitten" – Into the haunted halls of Copperdale they go.
Can the coterie retrieve the necklace without disturbing what sleeps with it?
Will our heroes outsmart haunted artifacts or become exhibits?
Is Therese planning to wear the necklace or weaponize it?
