It was because he wasn't strict enough with her, he reflected, as he trudged towards the hall.  When his commanding officers had wanted him to do something, he either listened, or starved for a couple of days.  Or was forced to run extra miles.  Or was forced into latrine duty.  Or a host of other less-than-desirable tasks.  It was character building work, and it had made him obedient, and efficient soldier.  It was character building.

And his daughter never listened when he told her something.  He told her he was fine being alone, she set up a profile on a dating site for him.  He told her to go to class, and she pestered him on his work hours.  He told her to stop moving her shite into the house, and she had brought in computers, gaming systems, that blasted I-padding.  It was only when he threatened to stop training her that she listened.

And now, here he was at the Hall.  The gathering place of the valkyries.  Gods, she always came here.  He grumbled, as he pushed open the door, stepping into the building.  Feathers, light, and high oaken carvings abound the area, and. . .there she was.  Aeron grumbled, and called out, his Gaelic accent rumbling out into the hall.

"Child, there ye' are.  Come on, luv.  You know wot I've said;  they've more important things ter do.  Come on now, stop pestering the valk'ries.  Last thing we need is th' one hope o' salvation warriors've got gettin' cross."  He spoke, scanning the Valkyries.  Despite their feathers, it was the one type he ever admitted to himself that he'd fancy.  Graceful folk, they were.  All of them.
