Ahoy, A Wedding On The Horizon : ep206
At some point you’re either deliriously tired or asleep, and when you’re that tired, you’ll sleep through anything. A rolling and heeling yacht is not conducive for restful rest, but two pillows kept me from being squished against the hull, and two more kept Cheyenne from crushing me to death while we were clumped together like a pile of puppies.
Both Cheyenne and I are startled awake from a tickle to our toes to find Alexa standing at the foot of our bed caressing our feet.
Alexa: Good morning lovely guests. It is twelve o'clock in the noon, and Henrik has asked me to wake you. He says if you wake now, we’ll get you back on a regular sleep schedule by tonight … with plenty of white burgundy of course.
4am to noon gives Cheyenne and me a solid eight hours of sleep after our all-nighter. Speaking of all-nighter, I have a feeling that Alexa didn’t get a wink of sleep last night, and from the way she’s rubbing my feet, if she had her druthers she’d hop in the sack with Cheyenne and me for her second threesome of the day.
Thankfully she’s got Filet in tow with a pair of cappuccinos and warm pain au chocolat, so we can avoid the awkwardness of having to kick her out of bed.
On deck, Henrik and Beri seem oblivious to Floody, Autumn and Alexa’s little tryst. From the way Floody has his shirt unbuttoned, it’s pretty obvious to me that Floody is basking in the glory of having checked a major sexual fantasy off of his bucket list. He’s sipping down his mimosa like a man with nothing left to prove while Autumn, exhausted, is curled up in a ball asleep with her head on his lap as he gently strokes her hair.
The light winds have put us a day behind schedule on our way to Porto Cervo in Sardinia and Henrik is getting restless from the long passage, so he points the boat toward a spot on the south eastern coast of Corsica called Palombaggia. We anchor about half a mile off shore in a cluster of tiny islands, each about the size of a football field, and catch a ride to the beach on the dinghy.
Palombaggia beach is famous for its fine white sand beach, crystal clear water, and an extremely photogenic pine tree that stands proudly on the point separating the Palombaggia and Tamaricciu beaches. It’s probably the most photographed tree in the Med. Before we do any exploring, we feast at the open air sea lounge. The sea lounge is a beach club serving exquisite local delicacies to guests seated or lying on their teak and canvas lounge chairs. It’s a magical tropical setting.
Henrik and Beri are excited about the upcoming wedding, and are even floating the idea of tying the knot in Porto Cervo instead of at the Hotel San Pietro. According to tradition, the Commodore of a yacht club can officiate weddings, and if the setting feels right, they may get hitched tomorrow or the following day, rather than wait through another week of sailing south.
That way, they can just enjoy the Hotel San Pietro as a honeymoon experience.
The entire group responds positively to Henrik’s suggestion, especially Beri, and it eases his tensions considerably. There’s a palpable weight being lifted off of his shoulders, as he just wants the wedding to go smoothly, and frankly, be over with.
With lunch complete, next we do what any group of people stuffed to the brim with seafood, fresh fruit, and champagne should do … we go snorkeling!
