thinking about how in looking for Alaska, when miles and the colonel, after Alaska's death, are trying to rule out suicide, they think to themselves "oh she can't be depressed, she's exactly the same as we've known her". that hits hard, cause they don't even realize that if she had depression, she's likely had it for years, and they just never knew because its always been her. so it could've been a suicide, and we'll never know, because we never met Alaska before her "before"

I actually didn't think it was that bad that John Green had Hazel and Augustus get applauded for kissing in the Anne Frank house. I thought it was pointing out how awkwardly teenage romance can pan out, and the joke was on how people treat visibly disabled folk for just existing in public
