Take a look at "Captivated: The Trials of Pamela Smart" on HBO tonight. I still suspect Smart was up to no good. But the film is even more about the way mass media can blur our perception of reality, to the point that even people close to the Smart case have trouble remembering what was in the real case, and what was in the movie adaptations, including "To Die For."
