Which scenario do you prefer?

Someone who just casually burps in the middle of a sentence, or when you're talking, and doesn't excuse themselves or even acknowledge it, knowing that you'll put up with their burping for whatever reason...

OR someone who can't help themselves and will randomly let out accidental burps, and then get all flustered and embarrassed about it no matter how big or small.

i've mentioned this a couple times before but i'm always down to talk about it more hahaha. but for me, the difference is in the gender of the burper.

i love women who burp confidently. i love when they interrupt themselves with a burp, or even burptalk what they were saying as if it's not a big deal at all. i love when they say excuse me casually like they don't mean it, or when they don't say excuse me at all. i love when they're proud of how impressive their burps are, how they echo throughout the room or are long enough to have everyone's heads turning. i love confident, unapologetic burpy women.

i love men who are more reserved about their burps. i love when they try to hold it back, but it's just too big. i love when they blush and apologize profusely. i love when they hold a fist up to their mouth as they try in vain to stifle it. i love bashful, almost shameful burpy men.

and, i know you didn't ask, but as a bonus: these two paired together. i love love LOVE the concept of a man accidentally letting out a huge burp and being so embarrassed to the point of tears, only for the woman standing next to him to let out a burp so much bigger and more impressive than his and acting like it was no big deal.

Do you think of burps and belches as different things or just different words for the same thing? If so, what makes them different? I usually think of them as basically the same thing, but the word burp is objectively cuter than the word belch, so I prefer burps. :)

oh for me there's definitely a distinction between the two. you can blame my high school english teacher for that.

she was in the middle of teaching a lesson when she paused, held a fist up to her mouth and let out a short but deep closed mouth burp. afterwards, she dropped her fist and was like "did you guys hear that burp? no, that wasn't a burp, that was a belch." and not only was that just. an insane moment for me. but it also made that distinction in my head.

burps are... idk. pretty standard. but belches are deep. they're resonant. they're loud. they're impressive and noteworthy. they're burps on steroids.

that's probably just me, though. everyone most likely has their own preferences and their own reasoning behind those preferences. that's just how i feel!!
