I was thinking about some of the takes about WWX and how he couldn't possibly have self-worth/esteem issues because he routinely is "boasting" about himself....

Yesn't.
WWX can still have self-worth/esteem issues while "boasting" when you look at the content of said "boasts".
What he puts worth and pride into is his looks and abilities. Things that he can do and something no one can deny. He puts worth and pride into what it is he can provide for others and not just in existing.
In fact!
He, himself, even goes as far as to agree that his existence has no positive bearing every time it's brought up and the only good his life is for is what he can do for others! (And even then that has negative reflections...)
So.
WWX's struggle with self-worth/esteem is nuanced and only noticable if you put more worth into people just existing rather than what they can do for others.
It's Becoming Increasingly Clear
that some of y'all need a permission slip to keep your works yours and free of the Devil(Censorship).
Well. Despite not being a big name in writing, here you go.

One signed permission slip to keep y'all from getting rid of or altering beloved works because of whatever the Devil(Censorship) is saying/threatening you with.
I'll remind you that you actually can't get in trouble for writing whatever "problematic" thing and posting to AO3. Hell, I've seen worse themes on published for money works that are talked about in schools. (Let's not lie to ourselves in saying The Crucible isn't just puritan wank propaganda that schools aren't talking about the real themes and issues, okay?) On top of that, AO3 is an archive. It's meant to preserve works. Works that have had its damnedest done to silence. Works where people said "Enough was enough. We won't let you burn our books any longer."
So please. Please stop deleting your works. Especially in this fraught time where artists and writers, creators, are being silenced. And take this as your permission to write and fight the silencers.

I got to thinking about Stardew Valley, as I tend to cyclically do, and I was thinking of which characters would like the cutesy Feed Your baby bird Partner thing...
AND YOU WOULD THINK Sebastian would hate it, but let's be real, he would love the little care and attention that it gives, especially if you were feeding him bites of sashimi or sips of pumpkin soup. He would be down for it each time.
SAM ON THE OTHER HAND! You'd think he'd like it, but it gives Mom-energy and if he wanted that, he'd just seek out his mom. Jodi herself(!) wonders if she babies her sons too much, so it would make sense that he would want a more independent treatment from a romantic partner.
My biggest gripe with Yunmeng Shuangjie hate is that it always puts thoughtless blame on Jiang Yanli and Jiang Cheng.
Like, you understand that JC & JYL were also abused and traumatized by... Everything? With like the worst support system imaginable as well as WWX, right?
You understand that these were abused and traumatized children shoved into roles that they were absolutely unprepared for or never should have been in the first place, right?
And for anyone who wants to fight me on whether or not JC & JYL were abused, not all abuse is physical.
They were verbally, emotionally, and mentally abused as much as WWX. JYL, actually, had been suffering that abuse since before WWX was brought to Lotus Pier, due to her mother's toxic pride and father's neglect.
You understand that there was absolutely no way for them to "be better, do better" because that is absolute bullshit, for any "good" will never be enough for you moral-mongers up on your high horses.
Of course you don't understand that. You believed all the propaganda and rumors at face value instead of looking deeper.
The thing that gets misunderstood about Jiang Cheng the most.
The THING! Is. He's just ragging on his brother.
He doesn't care about who is doing what with who.
He cares that Wei Wuxian is telling him information no sibling should know and being absolutely terrible with makeup.
He only cares because it's WWX.
But don't you dare say those things about WWX! Do you want your legs broken?!
Please for the love of whatever, give my girl Jiang Yanli a damned break and consider the setting in which the work takes place and how women were treated historically- which is making a modern reappearance.
She did her best with what power she had and that's what it comes down to: power.
What power she did have was always undercut by someone else.
Please just give her a break and stop spitting out the same abusive rhetoric that blames her for her situation.
