Last year I set up my first successful planted tank, I don't remember if I ever showed it off
(there are two plastic plants in there still to fill in the backdrop, the gouramis like them)
ICEE and Honey are still lively as ever. ICEE lost a lot of weight and color when we moved, I assume from stress but she's still fiesty and full of personality. Honey is currently the oldest member of this tank at 2 years old, aside from the nerite snail who's been here for, I think 6? He's seen a lot of different tankmates.
I started with a school of 7 neon tetras, 3 of them didn't make it and the fish store was out of stock when I went in to bring home more so I got three X-ray tetras instead. They all school together happily but stick with their own kind for the most part. I can't ever manage to get any good pics of them.
And the newest member of this tank is PBC, or Reese, the panda gara. This guy is one of my favorite fish I've ever kept, he's so zippy and personable, always on the move and exploring every nook and cranny. Very adamant about keeping the leaves clean too.
I'm extremely proud of this tank, it's running beautifully and the plants are thriving. I even got water lilies to grow! I plan on adding some kind of carpeting plant in the future, and maybe replace the plastics with some rotala or fanwort.
