Metal Otter - pandapaco
Paco Panda Ref Sheet
Finally an update of my reference sheet, after some years not updating it, you can see a new little feature on him. Should I tell again the story of my fursona? Probably yeah, I'm sure many of you haven't read or listened it. I know many of you have read this story so many times: It was on 1998, I was liking many shows on TV, including Talespin ("Aventureros del Aire" in Spanish), and I wanted to belong to the show someway, to be friends of Baloo, Kit Cloudkicker and company, so I created my own character to imagine I could be in the show. That year, in the school they took us to the Chapultepec's Zoo, in Mexico City, I was especially excited for bears, but I could see for first time panda bears and I got amazed for how beautiful animal it was, very different to see them in person than just in videos or photographies. So when I was back home, my original character changed to be a panda, and that's how Paco the Panda was born. Soon he changed his name to Parinton thanks to a dream I had where I got that name in my head for that panda character and I decided to name him like that because it sounded more original than "Paco". But it's fine, call me Paco, I like that name! I created many other adventures in my mind out of the Talespin show, with that imaginary panda and his little brother Nemorio. My connection with panda bears was stronger when I discovered the punk rock band "Panda", which turned in my favorite band, not only because the name of it but for their music, until this day I can say it has been an important band in my life. I even showed my obsession for my music taste, my own characters and my love for pandas to my class mates in middle school and high school, for sure I scared them some way. But during all this time, I had no idea what was the furry fandom so I couldn't even call Parinton my fursona, it was just the toony animal character who was representing myself. It was not until 2008 at a Devmeet (a meeting from Deviantart users, back on the second half of 2000's those were very common in many parts of the world) when some guys were checking my portfolio, and one of them asked me if I was a furry. Well, it happened that those guys were furries and they were surprised I had no idea about the fandom and they introduced me. Everything they were telling me about this community was matching completely with me. And here I am! 12 years later of have discovered the fandom, and 22 years later of have created my panda character, more than the half of my life having that oreo bear with me.

Many years ago that I hadn't done this, a count of the progress in my work through the years. Since I was a little cub I started to like the drawing, and it was until I was 14 years old that I realized that I had to dedicate my life to this.
They are countless the works that I have done, when I see folders of very old drawings I realize that there are even pics that I didn't remember its existence, or that I didn't remember what I had meant with that, or characters that I had invented and no longer continued their development .
But I know it's something I'll never get tired of doing, I really enjoy drawing and painting. Many thanks to all of you, to all the artists and friends that I admire and who have inspired me to continue, and to all the watchers and admirers who with their comments impel me to improvise and learn more and more.
I wish you all the best, must be us with our actions who make 2017 a great year.

10. Ben Hur 09. The jungle book 08. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children 07. Fantastic beasts and where to find them 06. Now you see me 2 05. Star Trek Beyond 04. Moana 03. Kubo and the two strings 02. Finding Dory 01. ZOOTOPIA

Oh no, I wrote a lot in Spanish, and it is the text I write first, then I be reading it and then translate it, in this moment I'm very lazy to start all over again, but.... *sigh* here we go!!:
In the world there are always problems, and the years of the monkey on the chinese zodiac always coincide that are disastrous years, full of movements, changes and chaos, are things that people never like. But also that is very human is to highlight the negative things and to leave aside the positive ones.
This year there were great advances, very good news (guys, pandas are no longer endangered!), very good art of many artists, very good music albums, and also very good movies.
As every year I like to share my top 10 movies, remember that this is completely personal, I'm not saying "the best movies of the year", these are "the movies I liked the most on this year"; beside you could consider them as bad movies, or that there were some that you consider as definitely better that I didn't include on my list, this iss completely objective, and I would like you also to share with me your favorites.
10. Ben Hur 09. The jungle book 08. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children 07. Fantastic beasts and where to find them 06. Now you see me 2 05. Star Trek Beyond 04. Moana 03. Kubo and the two strings 02. Finding Dory 01. ZOOTOPIA
Zootopia was definitely the best thing that happened in 2016, not only because it is a movie with anthropomorphic characters in a world that many furries we loved to be, but in fact it was one the best films that Disney has done, a true masterpiece.
Many years ago that I hadn't done this, to share my favorite works of each month and summarize them in a single image, it was since 2012 that I hadn't. But here goes the explanation of each one and why I consider it as my favorite of each month:
JANUARY An art trade with Frechet, who was a new friend at the time, and he's is now a great artist mate with whom I've like to share many experiences. You should visit his gallery, he's very good and with many funny ideas: http: // Www.furaffinity.net/user/jordanfrechet http://fav.me/d9ohoqr
FEBRUARY A birthday present for Rodney Raccoon, who despite being an old friend, I haven't talked to him lately as much as before, but for me he is still a very special person, with great talent and I would love to meet him one day in real life. Check out his gallery: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/rodney-raccoon http://fav.me/d9scgr3
MARCH A commission for Flip bunny. This drawing was very special not only for him, but for me. It was a guy who contacted me for this commission, and it was a coincidence that we would both be in the same weekend in Mexico City (we both went to attend concerts) at the end of febriuary, so we met in that giant city, we got along very well, and now we are very good friends. Working on his paid commission, I decided to set this scene in the same place where we just met. http://fav.me/d9vz21d
APRIL Some time ago, I was used to organize local furmeets dedicated to drawing, where I invited all those who wanted to attend, regardless of their drawing levels, or even if they didn't draw, and made all activities that had nothing to do with their level of detail or anatomy in the drawing, but only to have fun together. This drawing of the fox drawing was done for the last meeting I did so, unfortunately it was so many people that it was difficult to organize activities in concrete. The furry fandom has grown a lot, even locally, that much that we need different events for the whole community. http://fav.me/da0k9qh
MAY A drawing I did to Scoob, a guy I met at BLFC. After this drawing I liked to apply a new technique of quick sketching with flat colors, all in the same layer, and there were results that many liked, and that have also helped me to improve, applying them in much more detailed drawings, and also to accelerate my coloring process. That image was a personal breakthrough. http://fav.me/da44a5h
JUNE This was a very personal picture, I just wanted to do it, that was all, they are not specific characters or anything, and it was the first times I did a whole scene with pure watermarks, I liked the result because it looked like watercolor, but without having to wait for it to dry, or wrinkle the sheet. http://fav.me/da74e7v
JULY Pic for Anthrocon 2016, which was published inside the conbook, and auctioned in the Art show. I was very proud of this drawing because of the level of detail that I put in it and the attention to the color palette. Of the works that I have enjoyed doing the most. http://fav.me/da9i15m
AUGUST Part of a Trade with Bobby Thornbody. Many of you know well that I love to paint water, it is surely my favorite element of the 4, and in this one I dedicated myself to study the waves of the sea in the foreground. I loved the result. http://fav.me/dacudo4
SEPTEMBER I could not exclude my two little kids, Art and Biro, my favorite characters of all time, and personally consider them as my children. Their birthdays are in September, and I always give them a gift, but a real good gift, and this was this year's. http://fav.me/dagxrrq
OCTOBER As part of the Inktober challenge, 31 days (and more) of doing inked drawings in traditional media, this was a commission for Fox47. This year I really enjoyed each of the drawings for this challenge, it was difficult to decide for one in specific, but in this one I especially liked the result of the lighting produced by the fire, making a scene of light-dark, and still this is how it looks like a happy scene, full of life. http://fav.me/dakqdx8
NOVEMBER Commission for Tylobechillin. Many of you know that I love working on traditional techniques, I enjoy it much more than in digital. This scene I liked a lot for the depth that I achieved in the background, something that often cost me work and that several artists criticized me for not achieving in my scenes, and also the evolution that I personally felt in the use of color palettes . For architecture I used many references, because I have never been to France or Italy to know exactly what those places are like. And I also knew a mobile app that many believed I had based on for this scene, but it was a big coincidence, before doing this image I had no idea of such app. http://fav.me/daq2mm3
DECEMBER In this month I had many drawings that I liked a lot, but probably my favorite of the year was this, a commission for Croc O'Dile (although I also think my favorite was the one of September, not sure, well, this was my favorite digital pic, and the september's my favorite traditional pic). A digital scene that I really enjoyed doing, for the composition, the characters, the lighting and the mood I had to represent. I must thank Croc a lot for the creative freedom in this scene and for his advice to improve it, it was the commissions that I have enjoyed the most for the process and the communion that I took. http://fav.me/datjsln
What was your favorite?
I know I’m late to post my art summary here. But I did post this before the year ended yesterday on my twitter account https://twitter.com/WiiRareU which is where I’m more active there then here on Tumblr. So if any of you have twitter accounts, please follow me there. (I’m still using Tumblr to reblog and stuff but not as much and I’ll try to post my art or my pics here if I can)
Anyway Incase your wondering why September-November looks blank with a sad face cause I didn’t do art at all between these 3 months after losing my motive to draw and feeling depressed involving losing couple people who I thought were my friends.😞 So yeah, 2017 was not a good year for me (only the second half of the year though) But on December I feel little better and I was able to get back on drawing again so hopefully this new year of 2018 I’ll try to draw more often then ever then last year.✍🏻
Anyway I hope all of you had a great time celebrating the New Years with either your friends or family or both. I wish all of you a great 2018!! \o/
