Lame Carol Prompt: the night after the final scene in the film. What happens. Go!
((Thank you ahhhhhh))
All throughout dinner, Therese had been buzzing. Carol had introduced her and gotten her a spot across the table. The people around them were chatting about things she didn’t understand, but the looks she and Carol stole in between conversations were so intimate that Therese could have imagined they were the only ones there.
As the party began to die down, she could feel herself growing more nervous. She had done her part. She had shown up. How Carol felt was still a mystery. The table cleared out but Carol stayed put for a second longer and watched her from across a field of empty glasses and plates. It wasn’t often that her cool exterior broke long enough for Therese to see what she was thinking. The trepidation was clear in her blue eyes. For the second time of the night, she could tell that Carol was at a complete loss.
“Did you want-”
“We should-”
They spoke simultaneously and broke off. Carol glanced down and for the first time, Therese knew she would have to take the lead. She bit her lip and considered what she should say. In the end, the answer was simple.
“Bring me home.” Carol opened her mouth and then closed it without speaking. She seemed to regain herself quickly, smiling the same secretive way she always had and sliding out of the booth. They walked outside in silence, both hyper-aware of the space between them. Therese wanted nothing more than to be touched by Carol, even in the most innocent way, just to receive some sort of confirmation that this was real. But they stayed painfully separate. She assumed they would keep up the appearance for the cab driver, but she was surprised when in the dark of the back seat she felt Carol reach for her hand and squeeze it. Neither of them spoke, and she watched Carol stare out the window, her silhouette appearing and disappearing as they passed shops and streetlamps.
Therese waited outside, looking up at the building, as Carol paid the driver. She then passed Therese and went to the door, fishing for her keys as she walked.
“It’s nothing spectacular,” she said. “Not yet at least. I’m waiting for the right sofa for the parlor and the wallpaper is atrocious.” She unlocked the door and turned back to Therese. “…But it could do, I think.” The hope in her eyes was too much. Therese knew the street was empty and took her chance. She stepped forward and pressed her lips to Carol’s, her hands automatically finding Carol’s face and pushing back through her hair. She expected to be pushed away or scolded or to be reminded that this was wrong- that what they were had to remain behind closed doors. But perhaps because it was late or because Carol could no longer care for propriety right now, she kissed back with just as much urgency. A flood of relief washed through Therese and it was a long time before she registered the taste of salt.
When she pulled back, she realized that Carol was sobbing.
“Carol?”
“I thought it would be easier for both of us,” she said softly, her fingers brushing a strand of hair behind Therese’s ear. “It was harder than before. I didn’t know.”
Therese drew Carol closer, holding her tightly.
“I’m here now. I’m not going anywhere. I won’t let you get rid of me again.”
Carol laughed and kissed the side of her head. They stood there for as long as they dared before Carol grabbed her hand and pulled her inside.

Therese woke up in the middle of the night and felt her heart drop. It had been a dream. It must have been. She felt the familiar cold of her lonely apartment and it was all she could do not to scream. Her groggy brain had already thrown her into a panic by the time she turned over and bumped into something solid and warm.
Carol was sleeping soundly beside her in nothing but a tangled sheet. Her hair and her skin looked silver in the moonlight, like a ghost, but Therese knew she was real. Her mind couldn’t have created such glory even if it tried. She softly traced her fingers along Carol’s shoulder- just to be sure.
Carol’s brow furrowed and she twitched in her sleep. Her hand reached out and brushed across Therese’s cheek before pressing insistently on her back. Therese shifted closer and wrapped her arms around her sleeping lover, and Carol finally relaxed.
“I love you, too.” Therese whispered. Safe in Carol’s embrace, she drifted off again. She was glad to be home.

My snowflake window cling melted. Though I do kind...
The question is why you still had snowflake ones up! You need some lovely flowers and sunshines!
Yes, I think they may have melted in protest. I really must get back to Poundland and see if they’ve any summery ones.
